Hi gang

Just got me a stunning Sigma 50mm f/2.8 DG Macro EX, and it IS stunning, but for a 1:1 shot, only being 50mm I need to get real close to the subject, which if the subject is an insect, they don't take too kindly to a huge lens being rammed into their face and they disappear

I got the 50mm as I also wanted a nice 50mm prime for portraits etc.
So if I wanted to get a bit further away from the subject, and still get a nice 1:1 shot, would a set of extension tubes, or a lens reverser do the job?

Thanks in advance, Andy

Short answer is no...they'll reduce the potential working distance and limit the max focus distance although they will give you an increase in magnification.
