Weather permitting in a couple of weeks I going to try and get to the Mach Loop. I have the right photographing gear but need tips on where to go and what to prepare for, I have quite bad tinnitus and will be looking at protecting my hearing (i know these things can be loud having done a couple of air shows years ago with out protection) What do you recommend to prepare and my hearing. TIA

Regarding locations take a look at YT videos for Cad East, Cad West and Corris Corner, remember there are days when nothing at all flies through. Exercise Cobra Warrior 25-1 is currently taking place until 14th March and the participants are cleared to use the Mach Loop (LFA7).

Regarding prep, beast yourself up some local hills, take some cold weather kit and maybe look at some Peltor ear defenders.

I used to go a fair bit a few years back. I favoured Cad West. Get there early and park in the layby at the foot of the path. Gary Gough has a good video on YouTube for reference.

I went up Cadair Idris last week and watched a couple of Typhoons doing laps of The Loop. Be prepared though - some days can draw a blank.

It is a long way up and fatiguing , Don't ask me how I know :runaway:
