MacBook wont load audio cd's

I thought I might use some of my downtime to begin building a song library in itunes today.

After reading up on what I needed to do I find the following annoying problem, my macbook wont load the cd.

It reads data & video disks every-time but when I put in an audio cd (shop bought) it spits it back out after a short while.

I have googled and found this is fairly common but cannot find a fix or work-round.

Any suggestions?
 
I had this happen to me, I gave the area underneath the CD part a little bang - not too heavy, and it worked.
However I think it was a knock that casused the problem. I don't necessarily suggest you try this! :lol:
 
ewww what an awful idea!

Try cleaning the disk and trying different brands, music, dvds etc.
I know that MAC Books dont like DVD+Rs maybe the same for CDs?

These are store bought cd's , my entire cd collection.
 
If you have a Apple shop anywhere near, I'd take it in and ask the Genius there for advice - especially if it is fairly new.

Mine is a year a half out and it does the same.
Im pretty sure the dvd reader is done.
I have apple care so Im sure that its covered.
As said got to the store
 
I had a similar problem with my MacBook Pro and it needed a replacement optical drive (which was covered under AppleCare).
 
What's your taste in music? That might be the problem.

My MBP loves Credance Clearwater Revival but hates Bangin' Choons 34..... ;)
