Never had a problem on any of my macs until now!

I just downloaded an update and now when I turn my MBP on it won't boot and the grey start screen has a range of strange text that starts:

panic(CPU 0 caller"..".......

I can't even put the OS disc in the drive and try and boot from that as there is a CD in the dive and the machine pen doesn't load far enough to let me press the eject button!

I am flummoxed!

Any ideas welcome?

Is there a little hole near the drive to force the eject?

I do think macosx needs an undo button ;)

Also unplug anything normally plugged in or if there's something that always is and it isn't, plug that in.

there isnt a paperclip hole on a mac unfortunately.

you could try holding down the option key while powering on (so that it takes you to the screen where you can select boot disk).

You can use Cmd +R key this should return you to the recovery partition, then if you have been using time capsule recover a good back-up.. If all else fails book a Genius session with your local Apple store they are very helpful.

You could go to the recovery partition and let the mac download a copy of mavericks from the Apple. I think if you get to the recovery partition you may also be able to eject the CD

Many thanks folks for the replies, I will give these a try when I get home from work
