Hello all, i am about to order my new macbook but i am wondering what screen option to add to my order as i do not know what will give the best image quality overall.

If any of you guys have experience with the option please let me know :)

Thanks.

I went with glossy, colours really stand out. only prob is the sun reflection

I went with the glossy screen as it looked a lot nicer, the metal border didn't look as clean to me.

No problems with colour and its a lot easier to clean. Outside can be annoying but I didn't do any image manipulation outside with mine.

I have to say i like the silver border and the black gloss the same.

I may go for the glossy in the end. Now is the question leave the glossy standard or go for the high res display for the extra money?...

high res ftw!

yes the glossy 'looks' great. but is functionally a nuisance. sum may argue that the gloss only effects your viewing outdoors but on the contrary, any from of strong light source will cause a refection on the screen. the gloss screen will also mean you'll have to crank up the brightness to overcome any glare when your are on a train/outdoors. having a MBP with a glossy screen, i speak from experience.

if you have the choice go with the anti-glare, like neil_g says 'the clue is in the name'.

Have glossy here and don't have a problem

I've just got the MBP 13' 2.4, and its gt a glossy screen and its fine. Lovely colours

Mine has never been outside, but the gloss screen is lovely indoors, no problems in natural or artificial light.

Anti-glare all the way!

I've recently purchased my 15" MacBook Pro with the 1680x1050 hi-res antiglare screen and it is awesome, well worth the extra money! Very sharp and colours look great, better than my 2007 MacBook Pro (15" matte 1440x900).

I have used friends' laptops with glossy screens and even indoors, the reflections really irritate me (lights, windows etc.)

I went for the matte. The screen is way to reflective for me when it's glossy - it's all personal choice I guess but I couldn't stand having to position myself correctly in order to see the screen properly. I just want to open it up and go...

The actual screen itself does look a bit better though when relfective. Contrast is improved etc.
