I have been having a problem with Nikon NX-D reading NEF Raw files from my D7100 using the built in card reader in my MacBook, it would read the JPEG files on a San disk ultra SD cardbut not raw. I could transfer files using the USB cable from camera to MacBook. My son is a computer programmer so I enlisted his help.
It turns out I had a San Disk Extreme SD card I bought with my camera to put in the raw file slot. But you have to use a USB 3 card reader to read this card, so I have gone back to a San Disk Ultra SD card and now I can open my raw files using the built in card reader in my MacBook.
When we looked at questions on Apple web site there were a lot of people had posted this same problem and a large proportion were using a Nikon D7100, so at first we thought it was a Nikon software problem, as soon as I told my son I had an SD Extreme card he realised what the problem was. I had been back to the camera shop to try to sort the problem, but they just assumed it was an Apple/ Nikon software glitch.
I thought I would post this in case any other forum members have had the same problem.
