Edit My Images
No
I currently edit in lightroom and export as JPEG, back up then import them into iPhoto for viewing and organising into albums. Are there any better apps for this? Any problems with iPhoto?

The only time my photos leave LR are when exporting for using on the web or to give to someone else. The only things I use iPhoto for are for the pictures taken by the wife and son or for if its a quick snap to send i.e.. picture of a lens for selling etc

Same here, Lightroom all the way.

For information iPhoto will soon go the way of Aperture as Apple introduce a new program named, I believe "Photo". No further information at present.

I do the same. iPhoto is annoying, but it's a great way to share lots of photos with friends and family, and albums are sync' across all devices. I'm not aware of any short cut for us?

Seems like a bit of a consensus. I do find iPhoto useful for sharing albums to other devices such as iPad and iPhone. Will play around on lightroom some more, I have only really used the develop module so far and generally exported jpeg to then view in iPhoto.

Apple is replacing iPhoto with their Photo app across their devices. Unfortunately the photo app for Mac isn't released yet.

I'd imagine the easiest way to manage is to create collections in LR and export each collection to a folder of its own, then hopefully the new Photo app will pick it up and share across all devices.

Personally I use my Synology NAS, it picks up folders as albums and auto-resize them for mobile devices.

Photos has now been released by Apple. I have been an Aperture user for many years preferring it to iPhoto - but really shocked just how dumbed down Photo appears to be.

I didn't get a choice when I updated - or rather I didn't notice a Yosemite update also included Photo.

I can see a transition towards Lightroom 6 when it comes out - if I can actually buy it rather than rent it.

I was hoping to use Photos as a way to transfer original photos from my iphone without a cable. Sadly that doesn't work, there doesn't appear to be a way to get the JPG file out of photos app.

This is beyond stupid.

Can you not use airdrop?

I take RAW + jpeg. The RAWs go into Lightroom 5 for serious editing and the jpegs into iPhoto (Photos now) for sharing and to use as a screen saver - the Mac Pro is in the dining room. It amuses the powerful one to appreciate/critique my random images as we eat. So much so that she's now got a D3200. Her images stay on her macbook though.

That involves getting up and finding my phone, when all the photos are already synced onto the Mac.

I thought the whole point of this iCloud and having Photos app download the master files is to be able to access those photos.

(unless you mean to airdrop to the same machine? can you do that? I will have to give it a try)
