Decided to do the updates due to shoddy ssl security and my iMac is now stuck claiming one minute remaining to this update.

It's been stuck for 10 minutes.

What's the safest way to kick it up the arse so no data is lost? Normally I'd hit the power button when it has jammed like this. It's not done it for ages.

Did the power button with blatant disregard for safety. I'm too impatient....

Where are the logs of updates like this? I'd be curious to know why it just sat there like a muppet for so long. No hdd activity and no data transfer either.

Apple's "one minute remaining" are notoriously unreliable, I think my update took about half an hour, and involved two re-starts, and one re-start from me to get everything working again. I now have the "cant connect to wifi after waking from sleep" problem, which I can only solve by turning off bluetooth, not good if you use the external touchpad!
But I still love my MBA:)

I gave it 10x its estimate. It should make the effort :) Worked fine after a restart and minute estimate was accurate!
