Many thanks
Thanks Rich I don't play games but am looking for an editing machine, Mac mini not the way to go?No it won't be unless you're trying to play old games or perhaps a few too many 4K streams. The new Mac Mini's are dual core similar to your 2012 I5, so you're only going to receive some architectural improvements from them making minor updates yearly, + some clock speed increases.

Thanks. In the end I went for a used gaming desktop PC, many, many times faster than the Mac, I'm not even sure apple make a comparable, at least not for the price I paid! The basic Mac mini comes with a spinning disk instead of an SSD and the memory is soldered to the logic board, so cannot be upgraded. I would go for a 13" retina Macbook Pro (with 16GB RAM) and an external display (non Apple).
