Has anyone done the surgery on their mini? I know it is doable, and wouldn't mind the little expense just very concerned about breaking things...

I expect to keep it for another 2 years and 512GB SSDs are finally pretty affordable. No way I am buying the new slower and more expensive ones. When we get sub £700 IPS 4/5K screens (or my Dell U2711 finally ends up in the dump :lol:) I'll have a think about an upgrade.

I wondered if any non-experts have managed to do follow that procedure safely...

There are also youtube videos showing how to disassemble and clean turbos. I doubt that is within my reach. I hope you get my point.
 
yeah i get your point :)

not taken one of those apart specifically but the old while plastic macbooks and plenty of unibodys and they're all pretty straight forward.

just remember what screws came from where and what routing any cables followed and you should be fine :)
