M42 to EOS adapters advice

Recently purchased myself a Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 from these very forums with a simple metal adapter and I can see why people say these are so addictive! Only problem is that I'm finding manual focus a struggle and most pictures come out of focus and rather soft. Doesn't help that my 20D lacks live view mode so it's all done through the viewfinder so I was wondering whether it's worth investing into one of these adapters with AF confirm function. Does anyone have any experience of using these and are they actually accurate?

It also mentions things like, "pin stop down flange version" so I'm not sure which version I would need and is it worth investing little extra into EMF version, whatever that does?
 
Right I see and I presume I want the flange version as the non flange is only for lenses without the manual/auto switch? There's quite a few different sellers on ebay so not sure which on to go for, are they all the same? Saw big_is seller recommended on another forum and this seems to fit the bill, AF assist and EMF option all under a tenner.

SRB Griturn are worth a call, they were very helpfull with my FIL for his adapter from a Leica 300mm to Minolta adapter. Might not be cheapest, but will give sound advice and should work well.

I run a 20D and range of Pentax M42 lenses. I would say a decent split prism focusing screen like the Katzeye would be a very worth while purchase. the EMF adapters are good but only as good as the AF focusing abilities of your camera which tbh on the 20D isn't great.

They just seem to have plain metals one in stock but thanks for the link anyway.

Had a look at their products and they seem awfully expensive! Think I'll just invest into one of the ones I linked to earlier, it's under a tenner so not a huge loss even if it's less useful than my current one. As for flange Vs non flange choice I presume I should just go for former as it can be used with my current lens and others that don't have a manual/auto switch?
