I'm looking for a nice SLR body that has an M42 mount or an adapter is availible for within my budget.

Budget is around £30-£40 and I don't want a Practica as I already have 3 of them. :cuckoo:

Must be of metal construction no plastic.

The less electronics in it the better as far as i'm concerned I dislike the metering on my olympus om10.
 
The Fujica bodies are well made and reasonably priced. Chinon manual cameras are fine.
 
So what's wrong with a Praktica MTL3 or MTL5..anyway tough all metal cameras I have/had are the Canon FTB or Minolta 101b with M42 adapters.....others like Pentax M42 spotmatics or the Fujica ST range of m42 cameras.
 
I have the MTL5 already and I just want a change from Practica.
 
Yiou might be able to get a an original Pentax Spotmatic for that price, the Spotmatic family represent some of the best M42 SLR's.
 
There's a Fujica 701 selling on the Bay this morning that's been mis-directed under Nikon. The current price is 55p with three lenses. Depending on what those lenses are it might be worth a bid however the seller has now slapped a £50 reserve on the package.

If it goes for £50 I'm a Dutchman but it might be worth contacting the seller with a more sensible offer.
 
Hmm good price but the description wories me, I think i'll give it a miss.

The words "used for AS project" make me nervous as does "much used".

Nice camera, check with the forum or google about the battery, IIRC it used to use the old mercury 1.375v (like most old cameras), but I can't remember if I put a silver oxide 1.5v and just changed the asa setting...other than that you are stuck using and adapting cheap hearing aid batteries (1.375v).
 
I have an FTb and it's certainly a favourite, as solid as you like. However unless you have some M42 exotic glass you'd like to adapt, Canon FD bayonet lenses are a bit of a steal.
