No
So I'm not sure how to get around this.
I bought a cheap M42 lens (Mamiya/Sekor auto) 55mm f1.8 and its in mint condition.

The trouble is that there's a pin on the aperture dial, not the aperture pin, that when the lens is screwed to the adapter presses against the adapter stopping the aperture dial from turning.

Is there a way around this? The pin itself is solid, doesn't depress. I know it's to do with the lenses auto feature.

Ok so a bit more research and I'd need to do a lot to the lens to get it to work. Or find/make a washer thick enough to move the aperture ring away from the adapter.

Fixed it, all be it temporarily. Couple of O rings made from card. Pushes the aperture dial far enough off the adapter the it turns freely. Proof of concept done. Just need to find some steel or nylon O rings now.

Is this not effectively creating an extension tube and therefore the lens won't focus to infinity now?

You can buy M42 spacer rings in virtually any thickness, if you want a 1mm one, just search for M42 spacer ring 1mm, etc

Whilst it will only be a short amount forwards, it will still impact the infinity focus.

Wouldn't it be better to strip the lens and remove the pin? Actually, might be even easier to just file the pin down.

Another update. Order a custom washer off of fleabay.

Already Dremaled the pin off but the aperture dail still touched the adapter. Hense the washer to lift it away.

Yes it is but as I'm only really going to do portraits infinity isn't an issue.
