Hi all

Should I try and source an OEM Pentax adapter or are any of the third party ones ok?

Quite fancy some new lenses don't I :)

Thanks

Danny

The official Pentax adapter is the best but the most expensive by far! Because of the limited thickness of the adapter, a lot of third party ones have a reputation of getting jammed on the body and then need to removed by taking the body to bits in some extreme cases. The official one also allows mounting of SMC Takumar lenses with the aperture indicating post which can get in the way of a lot of third party ones although the actual post sadly does nothing on a K-mount camera.

There are a few official Pentax adapters on ebay at the moment:

I have the OEM one, which is great. Can't comment on the others for pentax. But there isn't much room , thickness wise, before you loose infinity focus, so watch for that on third party ones.

I've heard the problem with with third party ones is a spring and that if you remove it then there's problem with it sticking to the body.

Any of the Pentax copies should be fine, Avoid the ultra cheap flanged ones. Can't remember what brand mine was but it cost a shade over a fiver and was spot on.

Oh, and look out for the 55mm f2. It's completely underrated and therefore cheap, but mine is one of the 50ish mm lenses I'll never let go.
