G'day folks!

Wanted to bend a few ears and see what would be a recommended variety of 90mm lenses for an M mount body... without robbing a bank. I miss my FD 85mm 1.2L and want something to satisfy that.

I've been eyeing up a Leica Tele Elmarit M 90mm 2.8 (Made in Canada) which needs some major TLC on the front element but maybe I'm overlooking other options which won't break the bank. I'm new to the M Mount game but also not opposed to using an adaptor.

Any thoughts and opinions are welcomed!

Cheers
JC

I have the elmarit. Super sharp lens with nice character. I’m thinking of selling as I just rarely find the chance to use it. Mine also needs some tlc but the glass is mint.
If you are interested, post a wanted ad on here and I can fill you in with the details.

I picked up a Minolta Rokkor 90mm f4. Great value and works nicely on my M10.

I had a 'thin' Leitz Tele-Elmarit M 90/2.8 a few years ago when I first switched to the Sony A7 alongside a Voigtlander 40/1.4MC Classic.

Certainly was a very nice lens imo I'm not sure of the cost of them nowadays though. I think they were around £350-400 at the time.

Think that’s that! They seem about the same price range currently. Will pencil it in as the next purchase.

Thank you for your help

For the same price as an Elmarit, i've been eyeing up a New Voigtlander APO SKOPAR. Relatively young as only released at the end of '21 so none on the 2nd hand market. Cant seem to find a bad word written about them!

Hi, the price of the Skopar is attractive - and the lens hood is included . ---

I do not own it. I have only 3 M mount 9Omm lenses :

LEITZ Elmar 4/90 (attached to M9)

Leica Elmarit-M 2,8/90 (right)

LEITZ Tele-Elmarit M 2,8/90 (left)

All lenses are shown with hoods, as I use them. The Elmarit-M is most convenient to use, having a sliding hood.

I do not have the Skopar; not because it has no sliding hood, but I am quite happy with my 3 90s.

The Tele-Elmarit-M I bought in 1988 with my Leica M6 (and the Summicron 2/35).
