Hi all,

I'm contemplating buying a CIS for my Epson R1800, but after trawling the net, there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive review:shrug::shrug:

Does anyone have first hand experience of the system?

All info greatly received:thumbs:

Cheers

Darren

the lyson stuff is good and they're pretty helpful over at marutt and will sort you out with profiles for your paper and stuff, check them out, if you do a google uk search for lyson you get marutt near the top i think :)

Thanks Chappers, that was the kind of review I was expecting to find!!

Will do Alex, Marutt are holding an open day near where I live and that's what got me thinking.

Regards,

Darren

I have one on my 2100 and very pleased with results and yes easy to install ..

Hi Darren 9330

Read your post last night but it was a bit late to answer.

I have an R1800 with the Lyson CIS system and have had it now for about 2 years and overall I’m very happy with it and you save a big cost on the ink.

The system is very easy to install, and I believe they have redesigned the cartridges now to make it even easier and go it up and running in no time, I did find my prints were a coming out a bit dark but after I got my monitor calibrated and a printer profile done they was a lot better still have the odd few come out dark but I know now what’s going to come out dark and will give the exposure a bump up in Photoshop first before printing and they are fine.

The only problem I have had with the system and I won’t necessarily blame the system but after a year or so the Cyan nozzle started to block a little (have had no other nozzle problems to this day) but after a head clean and leave it for an hour it was ok again. Until a few months ago and it just got worse and worse until I gave up on printing.

I say not necessarily blame the system as about March time I had to have the printer serviced by my local Epsom dealer! (ink pads and waste tank) and was only charged £40 which I thought a bit cheap, took it back to them to have a look at and they couldn’t fix it after 4 weeks, contacted Marrut (Lysons Distributor) to have a chat they took it in and after 10 days got a phone call it was fixed but needed the ink pads and tank changing as they where blocked (not done at earlier service just counters reset) they believe the full ink pads were stopping the ink going through properly on the head clean so really not getting cleaned,

They charged me £125 for a new service but there was no charge for the work on unblocking the heads and the system was out of warranty, so a big BZ:thumbs: to them for that, I have now had it back for 2 weeks and working fine every time.

Hope this is of some help

Trevor

Thanks Trevor,

I guess it's a case of using it every day or run the risk of clogging. How do you find the quality against Epson original inks?

All the best

Darren

I try and use it every 3 days or so and do a quick test print, the quality is just as good as the Epson inks I find, but that was after I got my printer profile and monitor calibrate, I’m more than happy with the system now but was a bit worried I would be putting it all in the bin at one time.

just turn your printer on then off everyday at the printer, the movement it does is a small head clean of sorts that should keep your nozzles working

Cheers for the heads up on that Paul just googled it and it seems very easy so might give that a go.

Also alexkidd never thought of that so it will save some ink.
