It can be a nice Scotty, on another day it can be a "f###ing useless piece of American Crap...." - oh course it is entirely the Putter's (and Greenkeeper's faults) and has NOTHING to do with the person holding the Grip end of it. :lol::lol:

I like your image of the putter Lynton, certainly on theme. I like the composition but maybe just a little rotation of the putter to give it a more 3D feel. What is the colour version like? I would like to see that, do the red dots on the putter face stand out?
I don't think those on here who don't play golf will get the image title? For those who don't play golf, our Lynton has expensive taste in clubs:D.
Of course its the putters fault when it doesn't perform and has absolutely nothing to do with, and I quote you "the ground/putter interface". ;) Iain

Depends if you read the blurb on the Scotty Cameron website and believe it or not.....

Their words (Heavily paraphrased and possibly out of context) : The machine milled face allows the a longer contact time by the clubface gripping the ball upon contact and increase accuracy on putts of all distances...

My words: "It's shiny and pretty, and in a previous life I WAS a Jackdaw. Gimme. I want it. Now!

In reality: You can just about feel them with a fingernail - I am sure it makes no difference whatsoever - Given (probably - I am making this bit up) any 10 random USPGA tour pro's will have putters from 6 different manufacturers, each with their own "unique" patented ideas, if there was really one that made a shedload of difference, then everyone would switch to it....

The old adage:

"Drive for show, Putt for Dough" (Dough=££)
 
The golf porn is wasted on me. I don't know one club from another (that is what you call those sticky things you hit the ball with isn't it? ;) )
But shiny and pretty I understand :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs:

And that is nice.
Really good sharpness - great detail in the head with the "machine milled groovy bits"
Agree with you that a white background would have set it off perfectly, but no pearls of wisdom on how to achieve it. It's something I always struggle with.
 
Lovely shot and I think it works well in B&W.
Was going to use a simaliar idea with my Odssey in fact I still might

Thanks for comments on the pic - no border this week though!

Darren - Go for it..... as mentioned previously by Iain, maybe off centre (rotated a bit) would work better, or have a ball lined up in front of it maybe?

Chris - yeah fair point - bit off the top and bottom to get a better composition would work well..........
 
I like the shot - it's compositionally strong, but I can see an argument for a slight rotation to give more depth.

Nicely lit, smooth and sharp. A paler bg would be better but no suggestions on how to achieve it!
 
An interesting bat you have there Lynton. It's good as it stands and works, but you know what... I wanna see more of the textures in the patterns on the head :lol:... It's a good fit for the theme.
 
My first thoughts when I saw this were:

the background is a little dark and the club gets a little lost in it and;

would the composition be a little better with the shaft coming out of the corner.

Now because I haven't had much time to come on here I've been beaten to both of those comments :D

Thanks for your comments - all valid points.

I've had a bit of a play - starting again from scratch.......

Left the background a little more natural this time and pushed it about as far as I can for the putter face details.......

Also a crop to put the shaft in the corner. Great idea......:thumbs:

Just seen a few bits of the top of the putter that I have missed on a layer mask, but no .psd file saved :bang: so it's going to have to do.

Good for you, nice putter by the way :) I played in Norfolk once at Sherringham GC it was fab, definately a place I would love to go back to, maybe someday :)
 
I prefer the second version of this shot.

Lovely detail in the business end of the bat. Reflections are well controlled.

I guess that is an expensive bit of kit. You could have titled it "precious metal"

I haven't tackled the white BG thingy yet but I have done black with some PVC from dumelm mill. If you have one near you they also do white (I got some of that as well) at around £3 a metre. Ask them for a cardboard tube as well then you can keep it rolled up.

If you need to kill any stray light they also do suede material in black but thats 3 times the price of PVC.

Taken today at Old Buckenham Airshow. I did try to consider the - some Harley's are ridden by Hell's Angel's and some Hell's Angels do look a bit grungy........:lol: then thought ... nah!

I like your anti-grunge image!! Nice monotones and reflections - interesting engine parts - could have done with a little more dof.

A great joker shot Lynton... Lovely.... As for the theme... Simon did precisely what he threatened to do... and put any theme people moaned about back in the bag for this year...

I'd like to be the first to admit to not having moaned about any theme as I believe him ... and really didn't want to see grunge again.

For such a shiny subject you've kept some really good definition there. Lovely composition and I like the bit of leather creeping in at the top left to contrast with all that chrome.

Good shot for your Joker. The detail is incredible.
The only thing is I just wonder how the shot would have looked if the focus was on the Harley Badge a bit more
 
Darren - good point - something to remember for the future............ I was just worried looking too geeky photographing shiny motorcycle engines in public!
 
Hi Lynton, I really like your joker shot - it would also have fit nicely into the metal theme. The lighting is excellent. I also agree with Darren, that maybe the focus on the Harley badge might have been interesting.

My eye keeps being drawn to the reflections at top right, including your own. I am sure you did not mean that to be the focus of the photo!

Jenny - yeah very good point - I honestly thought I had composed the image with focus on the H-D badge but must have lifted the pressure on the shutter button.......:thinking::lol:

Or maybe it was one of my rare narcissistic moments........:lol:

Thanks Sparrow - one of the few occasions I have been happy with a bit of lens flare as well!

The couple of seascape shots that you've posted are my favourites from your 52.
Love the bit of lens flare and the colours are great.

I reckon that a quick brush over the sky at the top of the shot with the dodge tool set to highlights would bring out a bit more drama in those clouds though.
