I have a Luxon 124DTZ flash, can anyone tell me if its safe to use on my Canon 450D as ive been told some flash's can blow the electronics inside the camera.
 
You need to measure the voltage at the hotshoe when it fires. Search for Vivitar (another brand of flash from a similar age!) and Voltage and you'll find a thread somewhere that shows you how. It needs to read under 5v I believe.

Well i tried it tonight at college and it came up as incompatible, my photography tutor said the same about an adaptor but i may aswell get a speedlite
