Lunar Eclipse

Forecast is for clear skies here (Southwest) means I'll have to get up or stay up
Unfortunately, if it's anything like last night then the skies will be clear but the mist will make it really difficult to photograph the eclipse.

Anyone else still up?

Here in Norfolk I've had clear skies so far but there are bits of cirrus starting to pass through and all I've got so far is lots of supermoon.

Bright clear moon here but no colour changes yet

Curses - a big chunk of cumulus followed the cirrus and it's solid grey up there now.

Just as well I've got a warming bottle of Famous Grouse otherwise I would be saying rude words.

My images won't be nearly as good as most of the ones more experienced togs will achieve I am sure but I am really enjoying this.

Murky cloudy mess :( Will give it another another wee while then off to bed for me :exit:

The time I don't take my camera to work on a night shift and we get a stunning moon. Crap phone camera just doesn't cut it.

Just think that at least you can enjoy it "live" and not by just watching the photos/videos in the morning.

Shorts and t-shirt up here but the moon is far from stunning. I'm sure it's normally bigger than it is today!

The fogs rolled in now. I'll persevere, but I think that might be it for me now... It looked great for a while there though :)

Camera gear all sorted but moon still doesn't want to play :( Back to bed for Johnnypanic.

took some nice shots using my new sony a7r2 camera with a 70-200 f2.8 with a TC 1.4x attached!

I have taken a few shots I am happy with... until I check the results on the computer, that is.
At least I have enjoyed it. I need to get some rest so I guess I'll miss the rest.
To those who will stay up, keep on enjoying the show!

Longest lens I have is a 50:

ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz looking at some images of mine, are they blurrey or is it my eyes :)

This will be the last total eclipse of a so-called 'supermoon' until 2033. What's the difference? Well, here's a comparison of a 'supermoon' vs a boring old ordinary moon

It's all a load of meaningless hype.

A few weeks ago, we had a blue moon. People were posting all over Facebook about how blue it looked, not realising that the term blue moon just meant the second full moon in a month and had nothing to do with colour.

Steve.

Some nice pics there.

My gloomy prediction came true, by 03:00 the mist was getting quite thick. It was still possible to see the colour change, but photography wasn't even worth thinking about :-(

Edit: What an eejit. I've seen lots of good pics taken locally. I should have realised that the mist was a purely local phenomenon and I could have driven for 3 minutes and got away from it.

Well done to those who got up to catch it :)
Anyone else seen the fabulous shot of it behind Glastonbury Tor?

I'm more looking forward to all the ridiculous and unrealistic composite images passed off as "wow a supermoon!!!!!" to appear all over social media.

Was certainly a memorable experience, now to dry all the gear out from the dawn mist while I grab a bit of kip :)
Hope my pics come out as well as those shown so far, well done everyone.

So good to see so many good shots! Not jealous at all honest! [emoji13][emoji13]

I had an 6am start this morning so had to be 'good' and sleep through it! [emoji26]

Next time!

Cheers,

Matt
