Has anyone any experience with these ? I've been roped into shooting a wedding for a friend and quite like the idea of the Lumiquest for the fact it can bounce and fill due to the little doors . I usually like to shoot off camera but don't see this as a viable option for most of the shots and thought that this could be a good option ?

I use one sometimes, it's OK, but I'm just as happy bouncing off walls and ceilings.

Thanks Phil , I take it this is a good option if no walls or ceilings are within flash reach ?

Without a ceiling to bounce off, you'd be closing the doors and creating quite a small light source.

In that case I'd prefer the flashbender

Lumiquest QuikBounce is my most used flash accessory for run 'n' gun social situations. It works well, with a good balance of bounce-to-fill-in, with noticeable softening of the fill-in light, provided you're close - like solo portraits and couples, though I'd prefer it to be just a bit bigger. If you like the bounce-fill look, then I think it's the single most useful flash accessory available, and unlike a bounce card or FlashBender etc, you don't have to think about angles - it's always set right, fast and easy. Plus, it doesn't waste precious light out of the back (eg Fong LS), works indoors and out, horizontal or vertical framing, packs flat. You can moderate the bounce-fill ratio usefully by zooming the flash head. You can also hold it up in your left hand for a bit of shadows modelling, though if that's your style maybe think about a RoundFlash Dish which is feather-weight 45cm softbox in a cunning foldaway design http://www.roundflash.com/roundflash_dish Really nice soft light, but no bounce aspect of course.

Another favourite is the Black Foamie Thing - costs pennies, and more of a technique than an accessory really http://neilvn.com/tangents/about/black-foamie-thing/ It's highly dependent on having a handy wall in the right place, but you can usually find a good spot if you scout the venue and the light quality can be amazing - see Neil van N's examples (y)
