Does anyone have any experience with the lulu.com self published books - not the photobook in particular but the hardback or softback book.

I'm considering a review of the 2008 season for the motor racing club I'm involved with. It would be along the lines of the Autocorse annual with a couple of pages on each round, with some comment, results and plenty of photos.

However, question is, is the quality of the paper and general finish from lulu worth the effort?

Some of the members of Rescue made a book about funny stories that had appeared in emails on our forum.
Lots of photos etc. The cover was glossy and of reasonable quality and the pages weren't too bad, obviously the photos weren't glossy inside.

Because they didn't have a proper publishing package they also had problems with page numbers.

I think you are pretty much on your own with the design work, they just do the printing so you have to really make sure there are no mistakes.

Its not cheap.

A link to their book is below, you can preview a few pages.

We have just sold over 100 copies.

Hope this is of some help.

I'm not after making a photo book, there will be a lot of photos in it, but a lot of text, stats and stuff. Thanks for the comments though :)

Staffitaxi - layout no problem, thanks for the comments. I think the prices are reasonable for small volume production.

Ah, sorry!
