That fella really needs to learn about lines!

lucky indeed.

Muppet. P ricks like that give bikers a bad name.

Hopefully he has been banned.
I say that as an ex biker, because what he did was reckless.
Imagine what would have happened if he had not bailed out. He could have been killed and there may well have been other fatalities as well.

This is the bit that matters, he would just prove the Darwin theory but others don't deserve that.

That road is probably classed as so dangerous because it's perfect biker territory, and so many bikers do what he did and spank it round corners far too fast, which of course skews the statistics. Seems to be roads like this attract bikers, which is no wonder then why they earn their title as dangerous roads. I work with someone who rides a fast bike and he seems attracted to roads I wouldn't even be keen to do in a car.

Thing that annoys me, is he seems proud of the fact, that he's putting other peoples lives in danger. If he had hit the oncoming car, he would most certainly have died, but the poor people in it would also have had their lives ruined, even if they were'd injured.

I'm still amazed he was able to walk away from it. I can't quite work out if this is doing any good publicity wise as he was not really hurt (thankfully). Hopefully it will make a few people think a bit.

The one good thing about idiots bikers who drive like this, they usually the end up just killing themselves

Very poor riding displayed there. Yes have fun, but it's not a race track the Cat and Fiddle. I lost a good friend on that road back in 2006 and he was a good rider.

Didn't read the corner, TFF, and confidence outweighed ability.

Yep, the roadside shrines will start appearing anytime soon, that's if this fog eventually clears, they come past my place mob handed at 100mph, sooner or later a bunch of them will end up kebabed on Frank the farmer's hay spike.

Idiots yes but it's never a good thing if someone dies as a result of foolishness. Lots of us have been there and ridden/driven too fast for the road. Lets hope he learns from it.

I too hope he learns from this incident but there is little in the way of an admission of doing anything wrong. He says he got a bit impatient and he should have stayed on the white line and went far too wide. No mention of crossing a continous white line and that he was going too fast for the corner.

I'm sadden by his self centred view. No recognition about what the impact his actions could have had on others.

No Man is an island.

The problem is they very rarely do learn anything :(

a lot of us do stupid crap when we are young - ( I bought a VW Sirrocco when i was 21 and flipped it and wrote it off the same day) - those of us that learn get older , some don't do either.

I'd remove his driving privileges permanently rather than just 12 months off. There's riding like a tw@ and riding like a total ladygarden and he wasn't riding like a tw@!

What's the betting that he claimed on his insurance (sorry, didn't have the volume up so he may have said in the video) and they paid out on the claim? That wasn't an accident, he was 100% negligent.

Sorry for the rant but like most bikers, especially of my age, I've lost too many friends to either riding like ladygardens or being wiped out by people driving like them.

Wagon driver where i work is currently away from work after he was returning to work on the Castleton Road near Hope, about 8pm 2 weeks ago a drunk driver came round a long sweeping bend and come across the white lines and drove head on into my work mates 44 tonne cement wagon, needless to say the young man in the car had his funeral a few days ago, my work mate has only just been given the all clear by the Police but he now has to try and return to work and to drive past that same spot 6-8 times every single day of his working life passing floral tributes as he goes by, im not so sure i could.

Overtook crossing double white line, meant he was too fast into the next corner for his skills. He would have got around the corner, but saw the car and got target fixated.
Was he apologetic?

IMO, in situations like that the victim (the wagon driver - the drunk committed suicide) should get compensation. It's entirely possible (indeed, probable) that he's suffering a LOT every time he passes the spot so could be unable (psychologically) to carry on doing his job because one stupid, selfish idiot chose to drive when drunk.

I can see and understand what you are saying Nod but who's going to pay the compensation? He's no longer around, his family are already suffering enough for his stupidity, Insurance companies will just pass it on to you and me and the same with the public coffers.

His family.

ETA...
In a reversed scenario where the drunk tw@ lived but he murdered an innocent bystander, his/her insurance company would pay the damages so they would be the ones paying the wagon driver in the real example posted above. To help pay for these claims, penalties for drunk driving should be more severe than they currently are. There is NO EXCUSE for drink driving. It is a conscious decision to (in almost every case) have the drinks in the first place and to drive after the drinks.

Feel sorry for your mate, and to be honest i would throw away the floral tributes is they were for the idiot driver, and its good he didn't kill anybody else

I saw that video on the news as well, as a biker myself I was amazed at literally how quick he passes his mate and heads into that corner which is almost blind, i could see where it was going, i looks more like a moment of bravado overtaking his buddy and keeping it nailed, very lucky man and thank the lord no one got hurt apart from a poor bike.

The corner tightens up and the road narrows, I can see him being unable to lean out to increase his turn angle and he then kind of runs out of steerage....oh dear.

Everyone knows bikes are poor at cornering.....well almost everyone.

I was lambasted on another thread for calling bikers "donors" it was and still is what the medical personnel in A and E call them as sadly so often they die from their injuries. I get surprised at bikers who ride with respect for others and themselves as more often than not bikers ride as if there is no tomorrow.

I often see the signs "Think Bike" and wonder what the bikers think when they pass them?

probably - "i hope the moron 'cagers' are paying attention to that"

also on the subject of doners, bikers say that too - but it doesnt apply to all bikers just those that ride like collosal bell ends

Two very false quotes in that story, 1st is dangerous road, no such thing until you add a carp rider and 2nd is the 50yr old guy saying blah blah blah as if age has anything to do with it.
Lots of 45-55yr old "born again bikers" leave families behind every year.

Fewer of the BABs die these days, the 40-45 year olds tend to have ridden modern bikes rather than those of a few years ago who had had Bonnies and the like in their late teens/20s and simply didn't realise just how quick their new GPZXRR was in comparison. Personally, I just like the freedom that 2 wheels gives me (when I'm allowed!) and sports bikes leave me cold (and with aching wrists) so my old tech (in some ways) RE 500 suits me just fine - a gentleman's conveyance as some people have referred to it!

Sounds good to me I have a Versys V650 as my gentlemens convineneience :-)

Just got rid of mine a CBR1000 the good old sports touring version 24 year old, really sorry to see it go but the back just can't take the cold and wet any more. Used to load up with me, three large boxes, tank bag and rucksack for the Mrs on the back then off to Spain but couldn't get to the ferry these days. :(

I moved to my Versys from a Honda for a much more upright position and also have some footpeg extenders and a custom made bar riser makes a massive difference, oh and heated gloves as well.
