I forgot to say...
One good thing about the update is making 'Dehaze' available with the Adjustment Brush, Graduated and Radial filters; which will please many people.
It's supposed to fix most of the problems, but some users in one of the Adobe forums are saying the Wacom pen is slow when dragging sliders and others are still saying it crashes. Also many people, including myself, are disappointed that Adobe removed features from the import process like the import destination preview, move, filename previews etc. Hopefully Adobe will consider bringing back these features to the new Import dialog.New lightroom update available which now, hopefully, fixes the current issues.
Adobe seems very confused about what are bug-fixes (eg the improved merge engine) which all users get, and what are new features ( like the dehaze tool) which only CC subscribers get.
What exactly is the new import process? An update or a bug-fix? Did anybody really want this? It's just bewildering.
It seems they are pandering to the perceived requirements of potential new users whilst forgetting the thousands (millions?) of current users.
Essentially they've removed some of the options to make the process on importing easier for new users, sadly it's removed some features long term uses use. Why exactly they remove features from mature programs (they've removed or changed stuff in PS too) is slightly worrying, how far will they go in "dumbing" down the programs. Lets face it LR wasn't over complicated to start with.
They needed new stuff to announce at their Adobe Max conference. Without the redesigned Import tool all they had to announce for LR was Dehaze and bug fixes. What was the rush?

One positive thing has come out of this debacle for me, I've learnt about some additional resources of information.
Is there any news on Adobes intention of adding back the missing features? I will miss a few of them. (preview of filename, preview of folder structure, filtering by destination folder, eject card after import, and the 'move' function.)
They have. Admitted they were wrong, that is. Hopefully they will reinstate the old-fashioned import structure. That's a bit like asking - could Adobe admit that they were wrong?

No, they were somewhat defensive on this matter. But when was the last time any software company got it wrong, admitted it, then changed it back to what their customers wanted?I understand they have admitted they were wrong in rolling out a buggy update, but have they said they were wrong in the import dialogue changes?
If you’re an advanced user, you will need to be aware of some Import features that are no longer available. They are:
- Move is gone. You can only Add the photos at their existing location or Copy the photos to a new location.
- Eject After Import is gone. You must now remember to eject memory cards using the operating system (although this will hopefully return in a future update).
- Duplicate photos can’t be imported (without workarounds).
- Zoom is gone from the Import Loupe view.
- Filename is now hidden under a tooltip.
- Destination panel folders preview is gone, including the italic preview showing your chosen folder structure, the checkmarks to their right, and the volume information showing how much space was available on each drive.
- Thumbnail filtering by Destination folder is gone.
- Total file size is gone from the bottom left corner.
- The filename preview (when renaming) is gone.
