Anyone been having issues with LR5 being slow?

Adjustment brushing away the adjustment appears about 3 seconds after I have done it. I'm defragging the laptop at present despite it saying it doesn't need to. My laptop has 8gb Ram so its not a laptop speed issue, I hope. I may revert back to LR4 as that had no speed issues at all

This is all familiar ground and it's a shame Adobe aren't on the ball.

1. Beta comes out - people declare it slow.
2. Wiser heads say "ah it's a beta they are always slow"
3. Release comes out and it's slow
4. Adobe deny it
5. Adobe advise doing clean install (hey, who would want to upgrade their products? Um, everyone....)
6. Adobe deny it's slow. Lots of product champions get involved to say it's awesome. Some users agree some find it unusable.
7. dot release comes out to address non existent speed issues and fix something in Mandarin (it's always the Mandarin version)
8. Repeat 6 - 7 until next paid upgrade.

If it's any help, initial trials of 5 on a new iMac are faster than v4 on an older slower computer. But then they really should be.

defragging hasnt really been needed for years. modern file systems and OS manage themselves so it isnt necessary.

with task manager open what are your CPU and memory graphs doing during the lag?

On my shiny new MBA there is a marked difference in performance between LR 3 and the 5 I have downloaded for trial - moving a slider on 3 sees instant changes, on 5 there is a distinct lag:'(
