Yes
Hi All,
I want to buy full copy of LR5. I seem to have missed all the cheap discounts and it appears to be back to full price - which is pretty similar to the discounted Adobe CC offer assuming I upgrade every year.
Anyone seen a discount or see something in CC that'd really make it worth my while? I don't really need a new version of PS and I don't intend to buy an iPad...

Alternately, anyone got a copy of LR to sell?

The best price I've seen recently on the full LR5 is from Cameraworld at £78.
Amazon have special offers from time to time which only last 24 or 48 hours and there are sometimes people selling it on eBay at prices that look too good to be true.

Do Adobe not sell the software outright? I was going to suggest asking a student, but they don't even appear to have any decent student pricing!

Thanks Brian. By happy chance minutes after you posted this a guy at work advertised a spare chippy on our notice board. Used your post to get him down to 70 quid, all is good!

Yes, Adobe still sell it direct, but they make it very difficult for you to find it on their website because they would rather sign you up to the CC applications.

Although I have mixed feelings about Amazon's business methods, they often have some of the best pricing on software, but as with all things, it can pay to shop around.
Because I started with LR4 I only need upgrade editions in future, which again are cheaper at Amazon than buying direct from Adobe.

Ah, found it. Students can buy LR5 outright for under £60

Sorry to go off track, is their much difference between 4 and 5?

Just got a new comp and about to really start learning lr4, wonder if I should just start from 5?

I've just give from 4 to 5. Not massive differences tbh. The radial filter is much more useful than I thought it would be. Better spot/healing brush removal, a bit faster and smart previews which with on your iPad if you're a CC user. If you're already on 4 then no burning need to upgrade, I'd say

All the above, plus automatic perspective correction.
The reason I recently updated is because I plan to get a Canon 70D soon and it's raw files are not supported by LR4.
Very likely, now I've got 5, they'll release LR6 in about a month's time!

Oh yeah, the auto perspective stuff is quite cool. I *think* you can get the same effect manually in 4 but it's very good in 5. Plus the additional camera support.
I too think that now I've just bought 5, 6 will be out shortly!

By the way, did I mention I *love* the radial filter? Such a simple thing, but having used it I love the thing...
