:help:

Suddenly my exports are a few hundred kbs down from the 'out of the camera' size JPegs at 4-6mb.

After digging, in the LR4 preferences, I see - somehow - was it me - without realising it :whistling: there was a box ticked to 'resize to fit' so I unticked it but now my 4-6mb sizes have bloated to around 12 mb.

Help please as I am not sure where I am going wrong now. I just want jpegs but no bigger file size than the 'out of the camera' ones

set heigh and width if they are just for the net as well

In the Export dialog under File Settings, try setting the Quality to something like 80%.

Thanks Garry as this seems to be exactly the problem

It was set at 100% and I'm not aware of ever changing this but .........

Do you know what t he default setting usually is?

Thanks Steve - I think I am starting to get used to this side of LR4. All my learning time, so far, has been on the more exciting side of fiddling with the photos

I've been using LR since version 1.2 and it has carried forward my settings since then. If there ever was a default, I've long forgotten what it is. But 70-85% is a good trade-off between file size and image quality. Unless you're uploading to Flickr, in which case you want to try and get 300% ;)

Thanks again & I will use settings you suggest as they seem to get a good output
