Alongside my NEF/RAW files after developing in Lightroom 4.2, are the Tiff files, is it worth keeping these because they take up a huge amount of HD space.
I still can't get the jpeg's to show along side these either even though they're in the same folder, but show up in the Elements organizer

For me, I don't save the tiffs, the jpeg is my finished article, due to size really more that anything, I always keep the raw as I always think what processing techniques may be available down the line! Although remember a jpeg is supposed to loose quality each time it's opened, but to get round that I always make a hard copy somewhere!

Yeah it might be a good idea to ditch the Tiff's then, although i lose the develop history, it would be better if Lightroom retained an .XMP file like elements does.

you can tell LR to retain an XMP file if you really want to, but TBH with everything in a database why you'd bother is another matter

I'm a little puzzled, as from my experience only a relative few images have to go from LR into PS for further work and on that basis I keep the Tif files thus created. I never know ahead of time what I might want to use such images for, how big they might be required or how I might want to undertake further work on them one day.

Case in point, I once had an industrial image which needed quite a bit of digital 'hoovering' and cloning work - perfect candidate for PS. Out of the blue - after supplying some small files for brochure work -I was required to supply a file for a print onto fabric measuring 4m x 3m for the background on an exhibition stand.

Anthony.
