I am getting almost constant 80-90% memory usage with LR3 and it makes it almost impossible to do anything with it. I have 4GB memory and am running W7 64-bit. I am beginning to think it might be a memory leak as I'm sure it shouldn't hog that much memory.

Anyone else had these issues?

Any help appreciated as it's annoying the hell out of me right now. :bang:

Got mine installed on a couple of machines.

On Windows XP (4gb ram) it's pulling approx 250k rising to 450-500k as I use it (i.e. clicking edit in photoshop).

Quite similar on my win 7 32 bit laptop.

LR3 is a VERY memory hungry programme, crashed a few times on me but that was with about 400 images loaded for web slideshow!

I did some reading and it seems the 64 bit version may have some memory bugs in it. I instelled tha 32 bit version even though I use a 64 bit computer and it seems to be better. It's still memory hungry but not as bad as before.

Similar here. The 64 bit version would rapidly use up 2.5Gb+ (on a 4Gb system) and start crawling until restarted. Catalog optimization didn't help, though I haven't recreated all 1:1 previews yet (though all the ones I'm working on are)

Installed the 32 bit version and it was much faster - and generally taking < 0.5Gb. Effectively "fixed" for me.

So it's great those running 64 bit have a choice, and there's a workaround, but definately seems as if there's some nasty memory bugs in the 64 bit version that IMO render it UNUSABLE.

Hmm. I have similar specs (4gb ram, Win7 64) and LR3 (64bit) uses around 60% mem load for me, and is working absolutely fine. 80-90% seems way too high. I can run LR3 and photoshop at the same time and still get less load than that, so something's going wrong somewhere I'd say.

I find version 3 much better than 2 in this respect also.

I find it worst when using the adjustment brushes, and that's the 64 bit version on either the Mac Pro with Dual Xeon's or my PC Laptop at home.
