Hi all,

I'm running LR3 on a Windows system running 3gb of RAM. My pictures folder is 142 GB with a lot of RAW files which I should probably get rid of as nearly all are backed up now.

But, I have noticed LR3 start to load pictures in the Develop module a bit slow. Plus when I am saving an image and click on the next it is also slow to allow me to move the cursor and make subtle changes. It used to be pretty snappy.

I'm wondering if it is something to do with the LR catalogue itself? That's the part of LR which I am seriously lacking in knowledge of and should probably read up on. :rules:

I could also do a system defrag but dont know how much that will help as it seems like LR is the driving factor, which I can totally understand if I have kept it messy and been lazy.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks in advance.

I'm no lightroom expert but would making a new lighteoom catalogue for 2011 onwards help?

I create a new catalogue every 2 years so that they don't get too big in size.

Im sure i read that it shouldn't matter how many files you have in your catalogue. Once LR has loaded it it should work just as well with a few or 1000's.
Other than the idea's mentioned above, you could also delete all the 1:1 previews. I've found this to help speed up my copy of LR3.3.
