LR quitting on me

I have Lightroom 6 installed on my 2009 I Mac, every time I open it up it quits unexpectedly on me. A pop up box to report to Apple comes up which I tick but nothing seems to improve the situation. Has anyone else experience of this or any advice to offer please.

Not experienced this myself, have you tried trashing and rebuilding preferences?
 
Phil to say Im a techno phone would be an understatement, how would I go about doing this?
 
The first thing I would try is to move it to the trash and reinstall.
 
Back up & save your catalogue before messing about with your LR install.
 
Try clearing the cache of your Mac. To do this, perform a restart of the system and whilst the screen is black before it starts to reboot hold down the Shift key and keep it held down until you see the Apple symbol and the progress bar starts. Then you can let it go and leave it to boot up. Once it’s up, just leave it up for a couple of minutes (don’t worry if the screen flickers) then restart the system normally. Then you can just carry on as normal. It’s not a bad idea to do this every few months.
