I have noticed a number of files appearing in my photo folders with the extension *.lrbak, as they are the same size as my original RAW files they are doubling my storage capacity requirement. What function do they perform, do I need to keep them, as I have a good backup regime to three external hard drives?

Any advice much appreciated

Are you on windows or mac and do you use .DNG? I seem to remember seeing .lrbak files as something to do with dng on a mac (could be wrong) but can't find anything on google or adobes site. If memory serves me I think they were something like an XMP file, but it's very hazy recolection.

Windows, and no, I don't convert to DNG. Thanks for trying to help Wayne, but I'd tried google myself without success.

Pete it seems they are temp files that have got stuck.
