I'm probably missing something here but if I want to cut an 800 x 800 image out of a full size image how can I do that with LR. I can do it with PS by setting the crop at 800px x 800px but if I do 800x800 in LR it just cuts it the same as 1 x 1.

Is this not done when the image is exported ?

I don't use LR but I thought you set the crop ratios, do the cropping and then export?

No I want a 100% crop 800x800 image out of a larger image :)

I think all you can do is crop to the correct aspect ratio, then guess with the crop tool by bringing up the size afterwards...

Thats what I thought and what I've been doing I just hoped someone might have an alternative :)

So you cannot export the file as a 800 x 800 image then using the method I said about above?

Martin, you don't quite get what I'm doing. I want to chop a section of an image out that is EXACTLY 800x800 pixels so it is a 100% crop. I'll show you what I mean....... CLICK HERE (post #12) I had to guess whilst doing my 100% crop and got 732 pixels. If I had resized it to 800x800 afterwards it would have spoiled the 100% crop.

I don't thinks theres an easy way to set the size but if you go to view and select view options and choose cropping (or something like that) then when your cropping click I it should show the dimensions and filename if memory serves me right.

In View/View options make sure one of the options shown is cropped dimensions and check show briefly when image changes. Then Set your crop ratio of 1:1 for square crop. Do your crop, and adjust the size until you get your 800x800. Thats the fiddly bit. Trial and error job, tbh. Once you've got the crop sorted, you export the file. This will give you another file with the 800x800 cropped section of the original, but it's a faff, and exact pixel size cropping is something that's on a lot of peoples upgrade request list.

:1st: And the prize for the correct answer goes to TheBigYin......

Thanks, I knew that if you could someone on here would know how !!

It is actually quite easy in photoshop but I just wanted a quick way without having to fire it up. Cheers everyone.

That's what I meant, but more eloquently put :)
