Haven't got a clue what happened but when I try to 'edit in' PS from LR the image does not show up in Photoshop. Ps does open but the image does not pop up on the screen.
I have gone through several similar posts on the net but no solution to the problem was put forward other than uninstall and re-install which ideally I would like to avoid.

Any help much appreciated.

Is your camera supported in PS?

If LR supports it and the version of ACR in PS doesn't then you get this. It's a really really dumb "error message".

Do a check of updates from PS.

Thanks Phil and Jonathan for replying to my post.
I think I sussed it out now.

I knew it could not be my camera. I have used the same gear since I started with Lr and Ps. I also regularly check for updates.

So I have figured out that the phenomenon ( love this word! well done Canon:) occurs when you start Ps by clicking on a Psd file as opposed to a Ps .exe file if that makes sens.

I remember now coming across this issue long time ago ( can't remember what the problem was now) but apparently it is to do with win7 OS rather than Adobe Photoshop.

what version of PS? ive only had that with CS3, you just have to manually add in another "open with" in LR and it works fine.

not had the issue at all with CS4.

(on windows 7)

Hi Nigel,

I have CS5 which was already set up as an external editor in Lr4.
As said above, this would only occur if you first open Cs by clicking on an image file as opposed to opening it using Lr 'edit in' or clicking on a CS icon itself.
