Sorry, posting a lot of queries recently

So, i created a slideshow from the last wedding in the LR5 slideshow module. Basic black background, small stroke border and some text at below the image.

In the export module the images looked a little soder than in the developmodule. Ok, perhaps this is just the module and when the slideshow is created it will be fine.

So i saved the slideshow as a DVD and when i played it back the images were soft, noticabley soft and also there were jaggy / artefacts / noise that was not int he image in the developm module.

I exported as DVD 1080P.

This article explains a little -

But it doesnt really answer the issue. Does anyone else export DVD slideshows from clients from LR5. If so, how do you keep the images crisp and sharp?

Thanks all.

I would guess that if the images look fine on a larger resolution (which i guess they are as 1080p isn't that great anyway (in comparison to a 5000x3500 pixel image which is multipled times the quality of a 1080p image) I'd say have a separate gallery, all with some extra sharpening and use that as your slideshow DVD.

Bearing in mind, DVD isn't 1080p - its 720p, Bluray is 1080p and if you've burned a bluray quality onto a DVD, the DVD will probably resample down to 720p (if the hardware can do that, on their clients player), if they have a cheapo Tesco or Bush DVD player, it might not even play at all.

cheers carl.

Sorry, should have said. Im not actually burning to DVD, i just used the 'export to DVD' method(rather than the export to PDF) in the slideshow module. This creates an M4 ? file which i have added to their USB. But on playback its really soft and noisy. Nothing like how they look in the develop module.

Sharpening and contrast.

the develop module they look fine. The exported Jpegs are fine. Its the export from the slideshow that seesm to screw them up.

Looking at google thewre seems to be a workaround that involves re importing the exported Jpegs and creating a slideshow from them, but this is double effort. You should be able to export a slideshow from the develoiped RAW files and it should be the same qualirt as the exported JPEGS.

DVD isn't 1080p so they're being downsampled quite aggressively, and then compressed.

DVD PAL resolution is 720x576

I know. I'm explaining the way to combat it.

To be honest, re-importing the jpegs isn't much of an improvement.

Tried the reimport as JPEG. Still the output slideshow was soft.

Anyone know of a decent cheap/free slideshow creator?

Just looking fir something basic that maintains image sharpness.
