just changed camera form canon 70D to 7D,my raw files worked ok before that but with the 7D LR shows it is that camera when i open it up & all the jpegs are there no problem.
If i shoot raws they are on the cf card & i can view them in camera but they are not showing up in LR,if i try to import them there is nothing there,i could use the EOS programme to import them to my pc then do it that way but i want to be able to import them right into LR,anyone any ideas.?:help::banghead:

I don't have the program open in front of me at present, but I recall somewhere in the import dialog there is something along the lines of "Treat raw & JPG as separate images" or something along those lines.
I think you should have the box ticked.
I only shoot raw so it doesn't apply to my files.

EDIT: I just checked and it's in the "Edit" > "Preferences" > "General" menu.
It says "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos."
Try ticking the box.

2nd Edit: Looks like Chappers beat me to it!

Already got that ticked,i shoot only raws as well & with the 70D as soon as i opened LR & clicked import my raws were there, but with the 7D they are not so i don,t know.:banghead:

Are you connecting the camera directly to your computer? Can you see the camera as a storage device in My Computer?

That is a thought i am having, when i used the the 70D i put the SD card directly into the PC & imported into LR,but the 7D used CF cards so i have to use a USB cable from camera to PC,but it works with JPEGS, & EOS utility works with raws.

Well it was more to establish how you connected it (directly or card reader), if it was working and if you could see the .CR2 files on memory card. Take LR and everything out of the equation and just check simple connectivity and presence of the raw files.

Strange this,if i open EOS utility i can import raws into DPP then i can put them into a new folder on my PC,then i can import those raws into LR,can,t go through that everytime to import raws.so i don,t know the answer except just to go back to shooting jpegs, but i prefer raws.:banghead::arghh:

Just get a CF card reader.

I might have to try that, after me selling my last one:):banghead:

As soon as i connected a CF card reader the raw files showed up on my pc & in LR.:)

Interesting.
I was looking elsewhere for an answer to this and I found that one suggestion is to update the camera Firmware to 1.2.5

There is a discussion about this subject on the Adobe Lightroom forum at https://forums.adobe.com/message/4271997 which may be of help.

I updated all i could think of,then as soon as i got another CF card reader problem solved.:)

I'm glad you solved the problem, but it's rather puzzling as to what the original problem was.
I don't have a 7D myself and I always download via a card reader, so I can't be of much direct help.
I know that there is a menu setting in some cameras where you have to enable it as a "mass storage device" in order for the computer to recognise it.

The pc & LR both see the camera & i can import jpegs into LR using a usb to camera cable but it will not see raw files & yes i have all the correct boxes ticked for that.
Strange problem but now solved thank goodness,it was driving me nuts & i tried everything you could think of & all the suggestions on the adobe help forums.:)
