Anyone having issues, ive started to find that once I export to .jpeg from an original RAW file that the export loses alot of the sharpening. Ive not really noticed this before until today but thats only probably because iam using LR more and noticing more things.

A quick google serch seems to suggest there has been a problem for awhile. Maybe I need to change my export settings?

(Mods please remove the thread from computers)

Example

Still having issues, upgraded to 4.1 RC2 right one is the exported one...

Adam is talking about settings in the Export menu.

There is a setting for JPG quality, make sure thats around 80% or above, also check to see if output sharpening is on, and what its set to.
The output sharpening is designed to sharpen the images as LR exports them, you cant see the effect of this in LR itself and is set per Export Preset so if you are using more than one you will need to make sure its on for each.

Ok cool, the JPG quality was defaulted at 60. I changed it too 100 but couldn't notice a difference :(

Yeah output sharpening is turned off as I didn't notice a difference with it on.

Will post up a larger copy tonight, might make things clearer. On my phone atm.

I guess it also depends on how you are viewing these images. In LR you need to view at 100% to see the effect of sharpening.
When you output the JPG you need to make sure you are also viewing this image at 100% to comparing the two.

Ok thanks I wasn't doing that but Iam pretty sure I could tell the difference straight away anyway! But will check tonight, thanks for the advice Dave.

Lightroom 4.1 is now available. May not be the answer, to your problem, but worth installing anway.

You can normally see something changing at less that 100% but to get a real indication of what's going on it needs to be done like for like.

In the past i found images output at larger than screen resolution would look soft if i viewed them at fit to screen, so now i output my shots at either 1600px (long edge) or 1024px (long edge). This means im seeing the same as i did in LR without windows compressing the files down.

Sorry if im stating the obvious here. Let us know how you get on. There have been reports on the same issue over the years but ive not read one recently, and not with LR4.

As Jimmy said, 4.1 came out officially today so it will be worth getting that as well.

Thanks guys :) will install 4.1
