Dear All,

I'd really like to aim for a recognised level of achievement as a way of homing my photography skills. I've been looking at the LPRS criteria and think It's achievable. Does anyone onhere have experience of the process or could you offer any pointers on being successful first time? Alternatively, is there a better or more recognised distinction available elsewhere (short of completing a degree!)

Also whilst I'm typing, I believe there are companies which you can send images to, they tweek any colour anomalies, print and send to your door. Can anyone recommend a company If this worthwhile following? Feels like I'm cheating, however I dont have the funds for a shiny new printer at the moment, and I wondered if this would be a good alternative?

As always, your time and assistance is greatly appreciated.

If you're going for any RPS distinction, go to a distinction advisory day / distinction workshop.

These are run by the RPS regions and they will generally review the work of approx 15 people who are considering submitting work for the RPS distictions. These days cost 15 if you are a RPS member, £20 if not, or £10 if you simply want to attend as an observer.

There will be a few words about advice given on the day being no guarantee of success, but if your panel is up to standard you will be told so, equally if it is not, you will be told what improvement is needed.

you will probably need to book well in advance as there is usually a good demand for places on these days.
