While waiting for my 5D2, I'm looking for a second non OEM battery.
There's loads on ebay and they come in different flavours, 1800, 2100, 2200mah, some also mention "fully decoded" .

I'm confused and don't know what is "fully decoded" so please help me buy the right one.

cheers

I got mine from 7dayshop. Fully decoded means that it will work on your charger and give battery information in the menus. However, you can't register the battery in camera, as you can with a canon one. Not that this is a loss to me!

thanks Jim, just ordered from 7dayshop

There are new ones which claim to be chipped and can be registered on the camera. I just bought the 7dayshop one. It works and can be charged by the canon charger, but cannot be registered on the camera.

Both of my spare 5D2 batteries came of Evilbay.

They came in Canon boxes and are fully chipped and even have serial numbers.

Unfortunately the company I got them from has ceased trading on the Bay of Evils.

This is the company that replaced them.

Fully decoded means it should be fully fuctional including the serial number registration.
