Lowepro slingshot

I had one of those and thought it was great, only reason I don't have it anymore is I needed something bigger.

How much kit are you actually planning on carrying?

My only negative was that when I was out all day with kit it does put all the strain on one shoulder, but its fine for shorter and lighter trips. Due to this I went for a Kata 123 as a replacement due to the double strap option as a replacement, which I am pretty happy with.

I'd want to carry
1000d with battery grip
Ef50mm 1.8
18-55
55-250
Nissan di622 flashgun
Spare battery
Sd cards

Chargers if possible if not I'd use my old bag to store accessories I won't need on a walk around

I have a slingshot 202 with a similar amount of stuff you mention.
I think you'd struggle in the 102...

see - http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=349953 for what I had in mine, think there might be a pic somewhere because someone didn't believe me at the time.

I now have a 202aw...great bag, carrying a 7D, 70-200L IS F/4, 24-70L both with hoods, 430 EXii Flash spare batteries for both camera and flash, cards, rain/dust cover, notepad and pen, cleaning stuff and I have also had in there with all this a 18-55 IS kit lens, and monopod on the side...does me fine

Thanks for the replies sounds like It could work with my gear but I think I really need to see one in person befor ordering anything

i also have the 202aw & same sort of setup as you and to be honest i think the 102 would be a little too small... call into your local jessops store if you would like to see one first.. thats what i did..

I did the same Jessops were very helpfull, Remember the compartments don't have to be as the are layed out, play with rearranging them.

You might manage, but it would be a squeeze I think.

Suspect you'd be better off with a larger model.

TBH I would use something else to store chargers etc. You'll find very soon that having your bag ready to grab will come in real handy.

Personally I have a draw that I store all the accessories in and chargers are by a wall socket. Never understood having them in the camera bag because I'm unlikely to need them while I'm out shooting!

I've got the slingshot 202, and I love it. I find it very quick and easy to swing it around and grab my camera.

When I went to Norway I took my 550d and grip, 18-55, 55-250, 16-35, 11-16 and fisheye, with a couple of hoods, a charger and some other bits and pieces. It did fit, but only just, it was almost popping!

The only gripe I have is that all the weight is on 1 shoulder, and you can't swap shoulders, so after a day of snowshoeing my shoulder was a bit sore. You get used to it though.

Oh and I had borrowed a couple of those lenses, so they were wrapped in socks for a little extra protection, which took up a bit more space :)

would the smaller Slingshot 102 AW fit a Nikon D3100 with its 18-55mm kit lens or a Tamaron 55-300 Lens fitted, Im thinking the body with its Tamaron might be a little too long.

My kit came with a LowePro Nova 160 bag and its a squeeze to fit the camera in with its long lens fitted

If not i might have to bite the bullet and get the larger 202AW

I have a fastpack 100 and that holds my D80 with 55-200 without any issues. I can also put additional lens in the compartment.

Might be worth going into a shop and trying out what suits your needs.

i will have to have a trip down, but now have the fastpack on my list as long as its waterproof

I go walking with the kids and often get caught out in the rain, so waterproof side of things is important, or atleast the water proof cover

The 100 does not have a rain cover. But the 102aw does. Once decided which one you want have a look at camerpricebuster website to see the best deals.
