Does anyone use one of these? Grateful for your thoughts about it.

Thanks,
Al

I had the 100aw, never liked it tbh. I found the strap would start to slide up and grate against my neck. It didn't hold a great deal either, you wouldn't get a body + 70-200 attached in there say.

Ah - thanks very much. Looking for something for D5100 with 55-200 attached, plus 18-55, so that lets that out. And I'm looking for comfort, so it loses out in all ways :)

Will have to start another thread ..................

Thanks again,
Al

I think your mistaking the size of the two lenses. It will happily take your kit in it with either lens attached.

I found the 100 slingshot a perfect bag for me. I also found it to be very comfortable. Whilst I wouldnt want a 300 to be a sling, for the wieght of a 100, it works just fine.

I now use a Kata 3n1 200 which you can make into a sling aswell as a backpack. I enjoy the sling aspect for keeping it close to the body, not having to take it off to pull the camera out and also as a place to rest the elbows when taking shots.

I suggest you head to a local camera store and try one. :)

Yup, there's a massive difference in both size & weight between a 70-200 and a 55-200. The 100 will hold a body with 55-200 attached, and if you don't carry much more gear, it might well be fine for you.

On the comfort issue, I used to wear mine while cycling a lot, that's when it would shift and grate the most. There are much better and more comfortable bags out there. I went from that to a Vanguard up-rise 45, which is in the same price category, and found it so much better. It's not a sling, but a shoulder bag, 2 straps.

Atm I'm using a Think tank sling-o-matic, which you can guess by the name is a sling type, one strap. It's miles more comfortable and hold more than the lowepro. Shop around ;)

Thanks chaps. Cost is an issue so I'll still keep the 100 on the list. I can't use a normal shoulder type bag so definitely need something like the sling (which looks very convenient to use) or failing that a small backpack.

another one that might fit the bill is the Tamrac Evolution 6 ,i haven't tried it but i'm thinking of getting one

I have the Slingshot 102 AW which is a slight upgrade to the 100 in that it has a little bit more room and a tripod mount.

To be honest sometimes I wish it was a little larger, but it easily fits what I need. 5D with 24-105 attached and two more lenses. There are loads of hidden pockets for memory cards and the like. Filters and flash fit in the upper compartment, but it doesn't leave room for much more.

I just found out by watching the video that my bag has a built in rain cover. This thing is full of surprises!

....the AW stands for "all-weather"

Mine is very comfy and easy to use.

The Kata 3N1 20 is one of the comfiest bags I've had, transforms between backpack/sling and has room for a handful of lenses.

The optional tripod holder is quite good too.

Well, living in London, the concept of any weather other than grey and wet no longer exists for me. Which is why I couldn't figure out what it meant.

Come to think of it, they could market it here as the "Always Wet" model!
