Yes
Does anyone know if the Lowepro Primus can be carried on as hand luggage, I know the website states it is, but I would not trust this.

never had a problem (BA, cathay, qantas, easyjet), in fact, judging by the size of some hand luggage I've seen recently it would look quite tiny.

These are the sizes from British airways

our free size allowances

Hand baggage dimensions.

The standard-sized bag is no more than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22ins x 18ins x 10ins), including the handle, pockets and wheels.

The bag must be able to be:

* fitted into the gauge available in the check-in area
* lifted into the aircraft's overhead lockers unaided (although cabin crew will assist you if you have additional needs)

You can allso take a laptop as well in its own bag.

With this particular bag??

yes, I found it would fit easily in the smaller overhead lockers of the easyjet planes and loads of room in those of the bigger birds. It also fitted in the smaller lockers over the seats at the rear. It has quite a convenient shape in that it has a big bulge at the bottom and slopes to being quite narrow at the top.

just to add and put you more at ease, I even put the primus in another bag and stuffed a few days clothes around it so i didn't have any luggage to check in on an easyjet flight. Even that squeezed into a locker although it was damn heavy!

Thanks for that, puts my mind at rest........I was not worried about the overhead lockers..........its the little metal holder/measurer thing, that they ask you to drop your handluggage into at check-in that was worrying me.

the depth is about 23cm (just measured) so even with easyjets small luggage rules you'll safely wiggle it in to the metal basket thing.

I want to take my Tamrac Expidition 5 with me, but the sizes measure:
32x25x41cm

Would that fit them according to the rules you stated poacher?

32x25x41cm will be fine, the dimensions quoted are just in a different order.

Yep i've been here, not with the same bag but another, fretting over wheteher an airline will let me take it as hand luggage. Once i got to the check in desk i see some people with hand luggage the same size as a small car that go through fine!

I took my fully loaded Primus (30D, 28-300 L, 17-55 2.8 + ancilliaries) on Ryanair last year and they are notorious for size restrictions and it didn't even raise any eyebrows.

Hold on folks. Before we call this a done deal, remember that airlines vary wildly in terms of what they'll allow as cabin baggage. This site is a useful guide but it's not guaranteed to be 100% up to date. Always check and double-check with your specific airline.
