Apologies if this is already posted, but Digital Photog mag are selling these bags for £50 at the moment, they have the DP logo on, but for a 20 quid plus saving im prepared to take that risk ! lol

Number to call is 01733 840111 they say they only have 800 to sell but are still taking orders as of this morning !

Im getting one because my Photo Trekker AWII is way too big for carry on luggage ;) lol

Damn, I paid 75 for mine not 3 months ago...

Here are some pics of the ones we ordered (Me and Ian)

Sorry they aren't more artistically shot. It's a b****r getting a model at short notice round here.

They are a good "day bag" and ideal for taking your kit on planes. At that price its a bargain too. :)

i got mine for £50 aswell, off ebay, brand new, great bag and holds a lot of kit.

Mine got a thorough testing on holiday - especially thre "AW" bit!
Found it thoroughly easy to carry, and supremely comfortable on the back. So long as the side straps are left slightly loose then it's easy to get camera and lenses out without having to completely unzip the bag which was a bonus. The waterproof cover is superb, didn't let anything through and water simply ran off it. The bag itself is also showerproof which means that if it's clearly just a light shower that is going to blow over then you've not got to worry about the cover, and if it's harder the bags showerproof properties look after it while you get the cover out.

There are a few minor drawbacks I found but I should stress that they are all minor. It would be handy if the cover was detachable as it's a devil to get dry. The fixing for the tripod being on the back is fine until you come to try and sit down with the bag on your back! I must admit I would appreciate a few more pockets. Those that there are tend to be quite deep and business cards, for example, get lost in them. It would be nice to see a pocket specifically for a mobile phone too - maybe on the side somewhere...?

All in all I'm impressed - bearing in mind that I paid full whack for mine (£89) from Jessops too, it must be good! If you want a good size bag that leaves you feeling that, quite frankly, your gear would be fully protected pretty much whatever you put it through, then you can't go too far wrong!

You can buy extra pockets for it, that is what the side straps are for, can't remember the name of the system, but pockets can be added to the bag

'Slip Lock' add -ons I think they're called. Great bag, I love mine.

Ah, that makes sense then. I thought those side straps had to have a purpose other than annoying me (although admittedly they do that very well!)

Must have a look for those then - ta!

Ta for the link......I may have to invest -I feel at the moment that those strappy side bits are deliberately trying to irritate the **** outta me cos they've missed their real purpose in life.....!

i used my Nature Trekker AW11 for carry on when i went to Oz last year,
no body said anything, and it was samaller than some of the other things peeps carried on ,
i know it is smaller than the photo trekker tho ,

that bag looks like a bargain,

i have just bought my self a slingshot 200 AW , i find it ideal as a day bag, but the strap is a little short to go round my ample bod , lol

oh feek!
only just seen this and paid £70 from Jessops a couple of weeks ago:(

just bought one at the weekend...

Just rung them up and they don't have anymore left with Digital Photo logo stitching on it. :bang:
Instead they still have some of the same Mini Trekker BUT with Bird Watching logo on it. Hmm.... might take the plung to save myself £20 but first off all I need to refund the bag I bought from Jessops.

Bird watching..........I can't bring myself to do it, I get enough strange looks as it is :p

no i bought mine in jessops

i can get 500 with our logo on, but thats probably a tad pointless...

nope, not likely to do that at all

Only one in ever 2 members would have to buy one ;)

If I buy one, sue doesn't have to :P

I always thought they where for sliping a tripod leg through, so it was easyer to carry.

You do know that the hidden flap at the front is for putting 2 tripod legs in and the elastic bits clip round the tripod so you can carry the pod on your bag on your back? Or were you joking and I was just a bit slow?

Oh.....and the small loops at the side are for the slip-lock extra bits....but what are the actual straps for? Maybe it is just what you said.....so you can have it unzipped for quick access without things actually falling out?

I got mine on ebay for £45 a guy had bought it, took it to NZ and brought it home. It was like brand new...even had all the labels with it!

I wasn't joking, ...and you just had me searching for a hidden flap, and the elastic strap....which I find, I don’t have. :D

Mines the slingshot 100, the small one. Its very light, easy access and I find I can haul it around all day without feeling uncomfortable. It has 3 tabs for attaching slip-lock add on pouches.

I've got myself a light Velbon Ultraluxi F tripod as well now and that comes with its own carry bag so I'm sorted anyway.
My only concern was replacing the slingshot in the future due to more equipment, so its fantastic to see the clip-ons....looks like I may have bought the perfect bag after all.

....this smacks of earrings and handbags......... :help:
You dont wear them on your motorbike do you?? LOL

Don't even go there!! :p  :D :exit:

Their service is slow. I rung them up and ordered it on Monday and they're only processing the order today and it'll be posted out tomorrow:|

Well it arrived on yesturday morning as they've suggested.

Might have to live with the Bird Watching logo now lol:geek:

Ah well, you can't have everything.
Would have been better if it was the Site logo. :D

if someone makes a sticky TP logo to stick over that logo on the bag I'll buy the bag :p

It looks like the logos embroidered into the bag, TBH might be better than having "Im a Photog" in big letters, people will probably just assume its got your binocs and sandwiches in it :)

And notebook :D

You'd be suprised at how much bird watching kit gets stolen from people at popular bird/wildlife sanctuaries.

I recently bought a posh leather bag for my macbook (imported from South Africa). Perfect and top quality. I was very pleased with myself even though it does have serious Apple uber-geek overtones. I may have to grow a beard soon :shake:

Then I started thinking about carry-on luggage, laptop on-board etc etc. You know where this is going. I know I should have bought online days or weeks ago but it's getting a bit late for that now. So I ventured into the pits of Gloucester city centre and joined a convoy of sad people driving between car parks looking for a parking space. I eventually parked up half way home - and still had to pay a rip-off fee for just one hour :( I walked along to the local jellops for a rummage. It was packed out - a sale was on. I quickly spotted a likely candidate, the biggest one on display, and bought it.

I've got it home and had a test packing session. It is a wonderfully light unit - until I had done with the packing. It takes the following with ease:

sd9 and two lens
sa80 in its own case
Airline on-board inverter power thingy in its case
many filters
Sensor cleaning kit in a case
Security wallet with passports, tickets, money etc
a pair of headphones
CD/DVD Case/Wallet
Bottle Opener :suspect:
ooodles of batteries and cables
and.....

My MacBook :D

It's not designed to take a laptop - but it does  Another benefit of having a MacBook :D

Oh! And what is this wondrous, cavernous, beastie I hear you ask? Why, a LowePro Mini Trekker AW of course.

What a shame I didn't take any notice of this thread a week ago :bang:

LOL - yes, my Dell X200 fits neatly into my mini trekker too.

If anyone still needs a smaller lightweight bag, Practical Photography's subscription offer this month includes a free Orion Trekker.
