Lowepro made the peak design everyday backpack

The horizontal shelf dividers? Both side entry and top entry, the straps on the front too, it’s very similar...
There are similarities, in fact I said that in my post earlier. There are also things which are different.
Similarities do not make it "pretty much an exact copy"

Tamarac and others also make similar, but your thread title says they made the peak design one, i don't see any proof of that at all "Lowepro made the peak design everyday backpack"
and "exact copy" again just not true.

There are lots of bags very similar. I have two Tamrac bags and there are near identical Lowepro models. Who cares if they are good well made bags.

There's not much innovation when it comes to bags, let's be honest .... and both PD and LP are over priced when you see some of the lesser known brands can make just as tough gear for 1/4 the price or less even.

I have a no-name fisherman style messenger bag that is tough as any big-brand bag I have owned or own [atm also have a Kata and Think tank, have had Manfrotto, Lowepro etc] It's got all the expected extra pockets, it has the removable yellow padded divider section that feels better than some lowepro bags I've owned and it's water resistant [tested in random Irish showers!] - it was £30, if "Peak design" was stitched on there it would be more like £200

I don't agree. I have two tarmac cyberpacks and never seen such quality before. The zips are gigantic, the straps look like they will not break in my lifetime and its absolutely solid.

Every other cheap bag I buy gets failed zips, braking straps and are generally cheap rubbish that does not last.

No way on earth they put a badge on a £30 bag

I wasn't asking for agreement, it's simple fact. I have a £30 bag right here that's every bit as well made as ones I paid 5 times as much for. You might have been unlucky with your Amazon bags or whatever, doesn't mean all cheap = bad.

Well I can guarantee it is not as well made as the one I paid 5 times more for. Maybe you made a bad choice of expensive bag.

I know the difference between bargain and 'cheap'. You may not. And unless you think the likes of Think Tank are a bad choice, then you're just arguing for argument's sake. You must think the brands I mentioned have bad QC? Because my choices at the time were based on their reputation

It matters not to me what anyone else pays, or what they trust in, I won't put my gear into any bag that I don't trust. I bought the £30 bag just to hold extras initially and for short treks where I only want to bring a camera and lens ... it just turned out to be better built than I expected.

You can't really though can you? Not guarantee.
You can hypothesise but without both bags in your hands, you're somewhat limited in options!

Regardless, I very rarely have a bag 'wear out' on me, so once you've reached a certain standard, it's immaterial I suppose. My main beef is the lack of innovation in design. I've been through so many bags for so many occasions, it's just annoying now. Too tall, too wide, too shallow, too narrow, too much velcro, not enough velcro, too many pockets, not enough argh!!! The bag industry is a fully incorporated division of Beelzebub industries!

Maybe if you start using your bags.......... :ROFLMAO:

There's a joke in there, right?

I always thought it was the two weavers from The Emperor's New Clothes that made the Peak Design bags. Those guys can sell anything to anyone lol.

I love their straps but the bags seem very 'silly' and not practical at all.

Precisely my thoughts. Like Billingham, those ugly old schoolbags that they sell for £300!

Seriously buddy. Find me an equivalent in size, features and build quality as a Tamrac cyberpack 8 for £30 new and I will buy it for you for free. Seriously I would do it

Not keen on the Billingham fly fishing style bags myself, but they do seem to be almost everlasting and are waterproof.
If they sell for a couple of hundred quid presumably the buyers think they are worth it otherwise they would stay on the shelf.

TrIpods are similar, cheaper ones do the job, but the expensive ones are usually superior in form and function.
Like everything, if you have the cash and its not affecting anything or anyone else why not buy the luxury item

Did you miss the part where I mentioned it's a small messenger style bag? The Tamrac equivalent would be about £80. I said it would be £200 if it was Peak design, Tamrac are not in the same price range, you get a LOT more bang for your buck with them. I'm talking the higher end, stupidly priced ones mostly. And since you have no way of knowing how tough the bag I'm talking about actually is, you are merely going by brand loyalty alone.

Yea, call it quits now I think

Is there a brand of thr £30 bag you have? I'll have a look to see if they have a suitable one for my needs....?

Bestek is all I can find on it, Amazon don't seem to have the one I got anymore. But looking around, I see many bags in the £30 - £50 range that would do the job for most people. Look for water resistance, padding/protection quality and then how much space, styling is the last thing you should worry about.

For the record, the most I paid for a camera bag was £300, but that was more a roller case. Think Tank Airport take off. I used it maybe 5 times, was really only for bigger jobs. I prefer over the shoulder bags as I cycle often

Slow day, I don't get it still :D maybe it's an English saying or something?
It was kind of a joke over the implication about not actually using the bags. A joke, a stupid one but...
I do myself have a cheapo warehouse shoulder bag that's kind of OK, the zipper is slowly giving up and I am toying with the thought of repairing it since the rest of the bag hold up well.

AH, I thought that's what you meant at first but then also thought it might be an old saying I never heard and chose the wrong option to respond! :D

Well, the Kata [now owned by Manfrotto I believe?] Minibee PL 110 that I love is very well used, still looks fine on the outside but what was once nice bright yellow padding interior is kind of ... mustard colour now from years of muddy gear chucked in and out. My Think Tank sling-o-matic 20 has also seen a lot of use too, it's been out in many a storm - nowadays it is more a mini cupboard. It's too big and boxy for my current M4/3 stuff, I used it mostly for FF gear. And the cheapo Bestek bag I mentioned was used just this morning! I went to my daughter's recorder recital at the school and that bag was perfect for the camera and 2 small lenses I wanted to use to video the performance. I've sold all other bags I had through the years, inc that airport roller - which was handy as storage too, but cardboard boxes are much cheaper ;)
