I recently bought a Lowepro "Lens Case" 13 x 32cm size for my Nikon 200-500 telephoto lens.
The case is ideal for such a lens and any other lenses around the same size.
It can fit the lens with the tripod bracket and lens hood reversed comfortably and with the camera mounted without the top being closed.
The only criticism is the shoulder strap is a bit narrow and would be better if it was padded over the shoulder area.
It cost £50

Yes probably can I'll have a search and see what I can find,

In fact that got me thinking and my "Crumpler" shoulder bag has a removeable Velcro shoulder pad so I've just put that on so problem solved. (y)

I was going to suggest a small OpTech neoprene strap but a velcro pad sounds even better (or at least cheaper!)
