Hi

I was wondering if anybody has this bag? I currently have a Lowepro Fastpack 250, which is great but the compartment for gear is not massive and is a bit of a squeeze with a 70-200 L f4 IS. Also, it is quite big and feels heavy when carried for prolonged periods, especially when carrying a laptop inside as well.

Reason I am asking is because I will be traveling to Japan at the end of May and would like something that is slightly more comfortable to carry around all day and ideally has a decent tripod mount so I don't have to carry a separate case for it if possible.

My equipment is:

Canon 40D body without grip
Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS
Canon 70-200 f4 L IS
Sigma 10-20mm
Canon 50mm f/1.8 mk2
Other bits and bobs like filters/remote etc
Redsnapper 4-section tripod + pan head
13" Macbook Pro

I will need to carry all of this whilst still being able to move comfortably. I was wondering if the single shoulder strap sling system is more comfortable than the traditional 2 strap backpack?

Also, if anyone has any other bags that may suit my needs, please could you point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Allen

i think it would be a tight squeeze, the 302 might be a better bet especially as the 302 can cope with the tripod better. i looked at the new slingshot range at focus on imaging a few weeks back and they are quite spacious, im very tempted to get one myself.

Sorry, I meant the Lowepro Classified Sling 220, not the Lowepro Slingshot 200. I put Slingshot in the title before which caused confusion.

The link below is what I'm talking about:

It looks a lot bigger and slicker than the standard Slingshot model.

Anyone have any hands on experience with this bag? I'm really tempted to order one anyway, but I've noticed you can't unzip the whole flap like on the Slingshot and Fastpacks..........this could mean that anything at the bottom of the bag would be hard to reach......hmmmmmmmm

I've got this bag. I'm very pleased with it and it's holding a similar amount of phot. kit to yours with one extra lens. No problem reaching "bits" at the bottom of the bag. I don't carry a laptop though and have noticed that my 85mm and 70-300mm side by side do push into the line of the laptop compartment. You won't have that problem. Divide the main area into three compartments lens - camera/lens - lens.
Just be sure that the laptop is not too thick.

Thanks for the info, I've placed my order and can't wait to receive it now, it looks like a really nice bag and exactly what I'm looking for.

How about the strap on it, is it more comfortable when carrying for a long time compared to a normal backpack?

Also, have you tried the tripod mount part of the bag at all, if so any thoughts?

I can only compare it with my slingshot, the strap is more comfortable and overall the bag is a much better construction. As to comfort over a long period the problem here comes down to weight. I've not carried a tripod yet but I think that would be quite awkward. Monopod should be fine.

Well.........just received my 220 AW this morning, not had chance to rip open the packaging yet to have a look but first impression of size seems okay. It doesn't seem too different in size to my Fastpack 250, but can fit a lot more gear than the Fastpack probably, plus has all the extras like tripod mount and AW cover. Will have to see how heavy it feels with all the gear, and my Macbook Pro and a tripod........

I put all of my gear inside yesterday, and I feel like I've gotten a bag that is a bit too big for what I have. I've got all my gear in, and there is still room for an extra body with a few more lenses, the space inside this bag is insane. After putting on t he tripod, and sticking in my laptop........it does actually become very heavy, almost too heavy to carry..........and I can't seem to get the strap to be comfortable when carrying it. Is there any way to swap the strap around so it is going over the other shoulder?

I'm wondering now whether I should have just gone for the 180 AW instead of the 220 AW.
