hi i am an amateur freelance photographer.
i have been asked to photograph a darts competition and it will be low lighting and flash is not allowed. so i was wandering if anyone could advice me on a few settings to get some good pics.

I can't really offer advice on taking pictures at a darts comp, however I can give some general advice.....

In order to answer your question you'll have to let people know what sort of camera you have and what lenses you'll be using!

Generally the faster the lens the better in low light.

Without knowing what you've got your question is impossible to answer!!

Neil

PS what's an amateur freelance photographer??

High ISOs, up to the point where the noise is still acceptable. Fast glass, large apertures. Simples really.

Someone who will do any photo work for free presumably, cos if you get paid, doesnt that make you at least semi pro?

I think you might be right!

I might be doing the OP a disservice - but it's not bad going to be an 'amateur freelance photographer' 4 months after getting your first DSLR! :)

Of course he could have been using 35mm or other for years :D
