Got the email offering love film with prime but my daughter swears by Netflix.....

Which and why?

Ive had both, am currently loving netflix, working my way through boxsets - over 100 gig a month lol

Had both too and just gone back to netflix, box sets are cool and much more selection

Netfix for myself, however I have an extension on Firefox which allows me access to the US content, which has so much more content than the UK version (it did the last time I looked it did anyway). I've been using this for over 2 years now and not had any issues....other than I have now watched more Star Trek than can be considered healthy.

I've also had both and sticking to Netflix. There just seems a lot more on it than Lovefilm.

If I wanted to watch 'Captain Phillips', 'Rush' and 'Thor : The Dark World' this weekend, which one would be the best one?

Netflix. I do find it annoying when they randomly remove content I was part way through. Paddington has disappeared for a start!

Can anyone with a decent surround system confirm that films watched on Netflix do indeed play with at least 5.1 surround and at HD quality? Thanks. And sorry to hijack the thread. :$

Just had a quick look and, if you wanted to watch Dexter on Lovefilm, you can watch the 1st 7 seasons but season 8 will cost you £1.89 per episode. All 8 seasons are available on Netflix at no extra cost.

AAAAARGH! I was just about to cancel my Netflix now that Amazon/LF have Dexter. I'm half way through Season 7. I'll stick with Netflix until I finish Season 8.

That's actually more than the box set costs from a little shop I know called Amazon.

Netflix are now making their own programmes which I guess won't be available elsewhere. Orange is the new black is actually not too bad.

Looking at Amazon Prime Instant Streaming.......they do seem to be very selective. Breaking Bad is extra money. Latest seasons of lots of stuff is extra money. Most of the "latest" films on there are ones I watched at least a year ago.

Apart from the fact that it's nowhere near as good as the US version, Netflix is a lot "fairer" IMO.

I got a few episodes into Orange is the new black but didn't continue with it. I may go back to it though. House of Cards is supposed to be very good, Hemlock Grove shows promise. I think there may be a few that are exclusive to Lovefilm so swings and roundabouts there.

I've used both, and definitely Netflix for me so many shows and House of Cards and Hemlock Grove are worth it alone, not forgetting quite a lot of other movies and everything is ready for streaming and I can't be bothered renting DVDs.

I had netflix, it was awful, my broadband is so slow at times it was like watching a pirate VHS

However my dad has it through his TiVo box and everything plays in HD

Netflix for £5.99 plus unblockus at $4.99 to access Netflix US and your sorted If your BB is fast enough

+1 for getting unblockkus as well. I run netflix throughs my Apple TV and get the US content. Worth every penny considering sky charge almost as much for a single movie.

Do you pay unblockus monthly as well? I was looking at it earlier, it'd be nice to see the difference on the u.s version but you can't can you?

I use netflix, £5.99 a month and seems pretty good. You get the first month free and can cancel at any time so maybe worth a try?

House of cards is awesome. I tried orange is the new black and didn't really take to it.

Wish they'd be more equitable with the content though as its unfair to make so much US only.

Very happy Netflix customer here.

After spending £30 on series 1-3 of Breaking Bad on iTunes, getting the free first month of Netflix to watch season 4 and 5 was a no brainer. Watched them all within the free period a good while back but let my subscription run as it was just such a good interface and had a great variety of films and tv shows.

Huge amount of Top Gear on there, at least ten whole seasons worth. It's like channel Dave on demand  (not that I've actually watched much of it on there)

I don't have Lovefilm so can't comment. I think Netflix is seen as the industry leader though.

(slightly off topic)

With Netflix you can change the DNS settings of your device to other countries allowing you access to different content. The American Netflix for example has Family Guy, the British one does not. Think this might apply to Sherlock too? Doesn't always work well/at all if you have a BT Homehub though...

Lovefilm is great if you want physical media and are prepared to wait for it...you can rent the latest movies AND games. Downside is, Lovefilm instant is dire. The selection is woeful and why my subscription never got past the free month. We also had major streaming issues with instant, constant buffering and freezing even with a 60mb connection (despite the rep on the phone telling me it was my connection at fault).

Netflix on the other hand has a great selection of streaming content, especially boxsets and documentaries. Much better selection of kids stuff too. Netflix's own stuff isn't too shabby either, House of Cards, although I haven't seen it is supposed to be great, Hemlock Grove was really good (shame it just looks like a one-off series), and my missus loves Orange Is The New Black. And as said, the US site does have different content so is worth a butchers.

We watch most of our Netflix content through TiVO or a WDTV Live and picture quality is excellent with 5.1 sound when offered.

Both have pro's and cons and it just depends which which you prefer...streaming or physical media.

Currently sticking with Netflix until Better call Saul finishes season 2. Saying that I'll probably rewatch House of Cards from the beginning again. That is worth thit monthly subscription on its own.

I've got amazon for prime anyway so that is 'free' ;)

Not too taken with Season 4 of House of Cards.... Will leave it to build a backlog of episodes. Might need a day of binge viewing. The 'bite' of Seasons 1-3 has not grabbed me with Season 4.... yet. Generally I am not one for episode following so 'on demand' systems work for me.

Are all those netflix fans who watched the USA version still sticking with netflix now its not available, or have you found a way around the new blocks

Stick with it, trust me.

I thought season 4's really good. Season 1 was great, 2 was a bit disappointing, 3 was rubbish. But 4 is nearly as good as 1. And there's no backlog. They were all available at once.

I could only see episodes 1-3 when I started to watch. So a binge day will be in my diary.

In terms of Series 1-3 each to their own. Overall, for me, it was good with the odd wobble.

Oh, I didn't know that. I guess I didn't try to watch it from day 1 and I didn't binge that much, so never had to wait for any episode. I just finished watching it all, like on Monday or something.
