I've lost my sports shooting mojo after the massive break that we've had due to the weather. Last season, I thought nothing of the cold, wet, early starts on Sunday mornings to drive up to London to shoot Sunday League football or nothing about the fun of shooting the rugby on a Saturday afternoon but lately I've just lost it.

How do I get it back?

Oh, Kelly. I know what you mean, I get to home matches, all of which seem to be evenings under floodlights, and my expectations go through the floor. How about meeting at Bluewater and having a chat over a hot drink in Prets?

1. Meet up with another photographer and have a chat (see above!).
2. Set yourself a challenge. Last weekend I decided to try to get good shots of a line-out for once and came away with three I was very happy with after several years of rubbish.
3. Shoot something different. A different sport or maybe something totally new (architecture, lanscape etc)
4. Look at you best shots and see how you can improve them, then go out and do it

What break? I havent lost my mojo in 8 yrs because I ahvent had a break in 8 yrs.. Football is all yr round.. when the domestic season ends theres playoffs and cup finals.. then theres tournaments all through summer then pre season friendlies..

As for the weather.. there is so much sport being held indoors (inc football) how do you find time to have a break?

Just go back out and do it.. if you love what your doing you want lose your mojo.. :)

I haven't even thought of doing an evening match, hard enough for me to do daytime ones!!!

But meeting up at Bluewater sounds good, will pm you about it when I get home tonight. Thanks x

Thanks Ian, that's sounds like a good plan, I video'd last week's rugby match and will be videoing this week's one but Sunday I will go out with points 2 & 4 in mind to the football

Something different for me? Hmmm  I'll have a think about that one

lol, thanks for the reply Tony. As it's only a hobby for me, there's been no rugby or football in or around the county since middle of November for either of my clubs so there was a bit of a lull.

In honesty, I probably could have tried to find something but through laziness and dislike of rejection, I haven't. I say rejection because when the rugby and football season closed for the summer, I emailed a couple of athletics clubs and American football teams with a link to my flickr album and a request to come along and heard nothing back.

I'm going to try to start thinking a little more positive then and take your advice to go back out and do it and meet up with Carol for hot drink () lol

How about:

You aren't allowed to come to Borough Market unless you've covered at last two matches between now and then?

Make sure that you have some marshmallows in your hot chocolate as well!

Deal :D

And marshmallows? I was thinking of Baileys :D

Mark, you haven't met Kelly have you?

 And what's that supposed to mean ;):p:D

Now that just looks dodgy :lol::lol:

:lol::lol::lol:

Some people just have no imagination!!!!

Kelly, try toasted marshmallows & Baileys next time you get the bottle out!

Be warned though - it is a bit icky if you have too much! :D

That does sound icky

My new shot of choice at the moment is mini guinness - a shot of tia maria with Baileys on the top -:love::love:

:nono:

a slippery nipple is not a mini (or baby) guinness  and it's called that cos the tia maria is dark and the baileys is light and looks like a guinness! :p

:D But you're right - deadly - especially when followed by a few more of them and shots of sidekick and then Jagerbombs

......I can see I'm going to have to educate you if you come to the rugby club!!! that's like saying a lager shandy is also known as a bitter shandy!!! :nono:

You're not invited anymore :p

Kelly I too felt like this after the winter break. Also my new found relationship meant i questioned if I had the motivation to carry on shooting footy.

However I shot my first game of the year the other week and boy how I've missed it. I now cant wait to shoot my next game. Go shoot a game and i'm sure you'll get the bug again. It's strangely addictive this sports photography lark lol!

Its a terrible time of year for the field sports shooters with so many games called off due to adverse weather, ive managed to just about keep interest with a few pre season friendlies but will be glad when the season kicks into gear

"She has become fed up with me mooning around with puppy dog eyes and has booted me out to go and take some photographs on pain of separation. I have since discovered that she is absolutely correct and that I will at all times do as I'm told from now on."!

It is, maybe other factors might have helped me lose my mojo. We'll see this weekend, am starting to feel a bit more positive, thanks
