LOST IMAGES ON PC

A colleague has just found that his PC has lost all stored images and also his free standing hard drive also says needs formating and images not there. THis is 3 years work and if anyone knows a way to retrieve or who to contact, please advise ASAP, please PM me if need be. This is urgent

i know of a product called stella phonix , its save me a few times. but there are also other free ones. the chances of recovery depends on how litte use afteher files are lost. so if its recent your colleague must stop using the computer until recovery is tried.

also there is no gaurattee that the files will be recovered . if descovered imediate there is very hi possibility

i hope they get they do get back the images

search the internet for other recovery programs some are free but some are only trial versions.

if it's really "mission critical" stuff, then these guys are the business... One of my former clients had a machine which held their entire recipe database, but nobody in the IT department knew about (I know, I KNOW!!) as it wasn't attached to the network anywhere - apparently the development director had bought the machine out of petty cash. Anyway, the inevitable happened, it wasn't backed up, and the hard disk went ERRKKKKK. We sent them the HD, they did all sorts of tests, then dismantled the disk in a clean room, and somehow managed to read the data from the platters. A couple of weeks later, they'd recovered around 90& of the disk contents - all the data files were recovered which was the main thing. Wasn't cheap mind - which is why I said "mission critical" - as in £5-10K as opposed to your company going bust :shrug:

In a similar vein a freind of mine had his (unbacked up) hard drive go tits up when the drive heads colided (which shouldnt be possible), it had his whole picture library on it including all the shots from his honeymoon, pics of his late parents (when they were still alive) and all sorts of other irreplaceable stuff.

As software recovery wasnt an option and proffesional help was far too exensive, we bought another copy of the same model of HD off ebay, and then butchered the pair of them in as close to clean room conditions as possible, transfering the physical discs from his drive to the one with working drive heads - once reassembled the hybrid was making some very odd noises , but we managed to lift off over 90% the contents before that drive too went to silicon heaven.

The DIY option isnt something i'd recomend under any usual circumstances, but when theres nothing to lose anything is better than nothing
