"Lost" - Definate Spoilers!! BEWARE

I enjoyed immensly, however for an hour or so after watching, I thought it was a cop out....then I thought some more and I realised they left us with a fairly open platform to continue to discuss, and therefore enjoy the show in its afterlife :)

My new theory?

Island is a link from real world to Limbo world (LAX).

The light was explained as life, death, etc etc. It's the light which links teal world and LAX....

Smokey IMO is the devil or a guardian which STOPS those not worthy of going to limbo, he judges, and either sends you to hell or leaves you be....

I'm on my iPhone on holiday....so hard to type much more.

Lost was and still is awesome.

Gary.

Well that was a load of rubbish really - considering how the show started in S1 and how it ended in S6, with lots of random bits that were just thrown in, it was clearly all just made up as it went along.

Good show but the ending was the worst kind of cop-out.

Why is it so important to have it all tied up and understood? I loved Lost (up until the last season, which was admittelfy dissapointing) because it was full of mystery and intrigue. If they'd laid every sinlge answe out on a plate there would be nothing left to discuss.

Do you really think they couldn't have told us everything if they'd wanted to? Of course they could cos they're making it up! They didn't because it leaves us fussing and arguing over it instead.

At the end of the day people are het up over it all because it did its job and dragged us into the world. Life isn't about getting answers to every question.

its not important to have everything answered but it is important to have SOME things answered. in the last episode the only thing answered was that the substory was the afterlife. thats all, had they wrapped up half the stuff along with that and concentrated less on a mushy end where everyone hugged and went into the light it would have been better.

i hate that the end was so religious.

Joe, what is a proper ending? Life doesn't have endings.

dont get so deep on me dean!!

a proper ending is one that ends in enough closure to form a good interpretation of what unfolded. they did a perfect job of this in the usual suspects and the prestige. not everything is answered but enough

heres a thought, they producers did say that they would like to persue some elements of lost as other stories, not with the same characters but with the same ideology, maybe they left some things unasnwered to allow them to do that?

wouldn't surprise me as the machine rolls on to make more money!

Very interesting read :D But have to agree with a lot of things said by Joescrivens.

I really enjoyed the whole series from the start. When Season 6 started, based on Season 5, I decided that creators were not going to "answer" any questions - that they were going to do the ending in such a way that it is all left up to individuals interpretation - have been telling that to anyone who will listen to me! :D And I think that is exactly what happened.

My theory is that the "real" ending - the one that the creators started out with when they did the pilot - is somewhere in Season 4 - which is where the series really peaked. I think at this point they decided to finish the series at season 6 and leave a lot to the viewer's imagination as they felt that was what the made the series a success (ie: lots of discussion, mystery and theories by fans). I think the writers came to a point where they COULDN'T tie up all the loose ends and so didn't even try doing it.

I think the "answers" given in the above posts are all just "interpretations" - some can accept them while others want a proper detailed explanation. I have no problem in stretching it to believe a bit of fantasy, but the last few episodes just created a lot more questions than answers.

But the last season gave us loads of answers - the black smoke, Jacob, why they were there, etc., etc.

I think you're confusing religious with spiritual, Joe.

I guess this is where we're all different, fella. I like mystery. I felt enough was answered for me to let it go. Yeah, it was a bi sacharine at times, but I'm a soft b****r and enjoyed the cheese.

I also really liked the closing of the circle with Jack dieing where he landed on the island with Vincent by his side.

CT;266479Ermrm... I think it does Dean - and fairly abrupt ones sometimes. ;)[/QUOTE said:
Life doesn't die, it just changes form. It's pretty human-centric to call the end of a human body's existance as the end of life. ;)

All the group in a catholic church, opening a door and going into the light? Symbols in the stained glass window of an Om, as well as a cross, a Star of David. Ok so there was a yin-yang, but all the rest are hugely religious symbols

No confusion there, that was massively religious

I didn't mind that part apart from vincent, it was a bit lame just to bring rose and her hubby back in the last bit just so vincent could be there like in the begining

Oh, okay, fair enough. Actually, the yin-yang could be classed as religious symbolism too as it's the key of Taoism.

That pair are lame full stop.

Gary.

so you are saying that they died when they crashed ? ...

the one thing i thought with lost was that after about the 3rd series i got a bit bored, but had to keep watching just to see how it ended.

the answer to that was disapointing, the entirity of series 6 was disappointing, bar the comment about duct tape in the last episode

just read a nice link from an alledged writer on the show, the idea of the group in church at the end and the whole 'purgatory universe' was that they needed each other to move on to the next life, Desmond was the catalyst as he was the man on the island when they crashed, and the one who was connected to the original survivers. Ben didnt go into the church with them as he has his own group, Ethan/Richard/etc that he had to 'wake up'

Re. the Polar Bears....

I was talking to a guy today who pointed out that the cages on the island (where Sawyer and Kate did the bizzo in one of them) were in fact animal cages - so I suppose the clues were there?

That just suggests reasons of how they were there not why. What were polar bears being used for?

are england gonna win the world cup?

What I know about football you write on the back of a stamp - when we had football at school I was the one with a note from me mom. Still - I'm as patriotic as the next guy and I'd like to think they can do it, but it's been 46 years since the last time they managed it so I can guess what sort of odds the bookies would be giving.

Fingers crossed like everyone else. ;)

For the second time:

"Text on the blast door map suggests that DHARMA Initiative researchers were attempting to genetically modify the polar bears to allow them to survive warmer climates."

http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Polar_bear

I suppose for some people this is great that there is all this extra info if you dig deep and look at tiny clues written on walls etc. Makes the show have more depth and gives something to discuss and find out and explore.

But for me if you have to read a website that took a screencap of a map that flashed up for a few seconds in one episode that suggests some tiny morsal of information that can then be used to decipher a fact - then it's a bit much.

But horses for courses. Others like that kind of thing

lol!
